Guess I got laid off just in time. There seems to be no way to find good news around TSA. Only good thing is sounds like nobody was hurt.

So it was grooved and BA was reported fair. Everything seems to have been done according to the rules. So what's the "new plan" for landing now?

Glad everyone was ok. I wonder if the ROC plane will be put back into service soon after the investigation. So out of the three aircraft that went off the runway in Ottawa, only the first one was reported to be somewhat the fault of the crew (high approach speed and long touchdown). The second was reported to be an intermittent BCU failure that couldn't be replicated after the run off. And, unofficially from what I've heard, because i think the report hasn't come out yet, the third runoff wasn't the fault of the crew - hydroplaning. In either of the cases, TRs would have prevented these runoffs because it's been proven that the aircraft can stop with TRs only and no brakes. Are lack of TRs finally going to be discussed officially by the FAA? I understand that they've been certified without TRs(and I'm sure they're incapable of making mistakes). But these occasional circumstances (BCU intermittently not responding/hydroplaning) probably occur on many 145 flights if you account for the many years of them flying. But every other airline has TRs to fall back on and making a potentially news making runoff into just another landing.
