word to the wise. if you do get hired/work here. make sure you tell people you work for Trans States Airlines, not our truncated name TSA. ik made that mistake and most of my family and friends still think i wear a blue shirt and badge to work and rummage through peoples bags.
At least they don't think you're a pedophile....

Fixed. Thanks for keeping me in line. Not rightly sure what I was thinking-- chasing my kid-o around and typing must not mix.
UND--Thanks bud, will do.

Guessing that won't be an option because I don't have enough posts. Anyway-- here goes:
The interview-- It was a good experience. Everyone is polite and Kathy made us feel welcome when we showed at 8:05 for an 8:30 interview. We sat in the classroom after stowing our bags in the closet and reviewed paperwork and talked amongst ourselves until Ed Phelps walked in to greet us and give an overview for the morning.
He then collected all of our copies and our applications, and then issued the 50 question 'multiple guess' test. It was pretty straight forward with questions covering basic weather and airspace requirements, metar and general weather questions (freezing rain above/ice pellets, etc), some questions about inoperative ILS components, and jepp charts. A prep from the weather and instrument chapters in the AIM would help you prepare. Some say it is from the ATP question bank, but it is not. Do not try to memorize study answers for performance, etc.
We were then dismissed into the lobby to hang out and mingle as they called us in one at a time into the technical portion with Ed and Stuart. They began with background questions--- basically anything on the application they want a story for (checkrides/tickets, etc) while they looked over your logbook and original copies of all documents.
Technical questions included describing the ice protection system on the EMB145 followed by a description of the ice detectors. Afterwards they asked to fingerfly an approach if "at this IAF and *000 ft, cleared approach" and if i could legally shoot it. 91? 121? Then about the prop system on my current multi. Not much else.
They covered the HR portion themselves with basic Why TSA? Which base? If awarded the other, would it be a problem? etc. Talked about class dates then Kathy made one last pass over the app and handed out a study packet on the 145 LR and two company produced dvds.
Congrats on the interview, let me know if you have any other questions.

hold-in-lieu where did you get info on the de ice system for the ERJ 145? I'm assuming it's a simple bleed air system.

I still gotta get an interview. I'm on the phone with Kathy trying to get in the door. I'm kinda surprised there is no sim ride.

Yeah it's pretty straight forward. And the items they want memorized is sent to you beforehand. Nothing too heavy.
PM me if you've got any questions. Good luck!

Hey, I'm here to help too...
For those of you in class right now, send me a PM if you have any questions since the old mentor list is a little outdated. Etc Etc.
Now it's gym time!
Come at me bro!
