Don't be so sure just yet. The outcome of the Delta/U.S. Airways slot swap (am I the only one who thinks that sounds dirty?) has yet to be seen. As someone suggested before, maybe there's a possibilty of of having a D.C. base that includes IAD and DCA.

Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that they have shut down the FA training center in IAD.
Could be nothing, but would certainly fuel the speculations about the base shutting completely.

Amen man. That's exactly right. I keep telling myself...its just a job. Its JUST a job. I struggle practicing what I preach sometimes but we don't make enough dinero to worry about things out of our control.

I don't want to worry about it all the time but a little info to help plan my life would be nice.. If I'm gonna need another job in a few months now is the time to start looking, not then.. I just like to plan ahead..

You should have started looking a few weeks after gojet got the delta flying...thus meaning the ATR flying was a carrot...to sign the new TA.

Stay positive but have a damn exit strategy...

Skip to 2:20. Point number 2 is especially relevant.

I don't know why but I don't get why people say this.. It was never a carrot for me, my decision to vote yes or no was based solely on the merits of the contract itself, nothing more. I feel sorry for anyone that went after that carrot.

The part that I didn’t expect is that so far we have not lost any airplanes that I’m aware of but the reserve guys are not being used very much at all which means we don’t have as much flying as we did a few months ago..

I dont think the ATR RFP was ever a carrot. I think TSA is a candidate for it. Its just on hold for now. What worries me is that the potential of winning that RFP is the only thing keeping us here for the moment and if/when we lose the RFP then we are out the door. I would imagine itll be difficult hiring pilots for 45 new airplanes regardless of the time frame so the last thing they want to do is get rid of pilots now. If that RFP is going to be announced 1Q 2012 then they will keep us here til then and at that point decide. Just my .02

Yeah just goes to show you how precarious our position is. They have their finger on the furlough button
