What are we going to do about it? Its going to take someone FAR smarter than me to figure that out. I think it first needs to start with education during the flight training stage. We need to impress upon all the future airline pilots that you may spend your career at a regional. Chances are, despite what your flight school tells you, you aren't going to be a 777 Captain at 40. You probaly won't be a G650 pilot. You're going to overnight in places like Greensboro, Peoria, and Little Rock. Probaly not Paris, Tokyo, and Rio. We need to effect the supply side of the supply and demand equation. You have to ask yourself...why WOULD management pay me more than I'm making now. I show up everyday, on time, fly the airplane according to the SOP and go home. They're in business trying to make money. They pay as little as possible to keep meats in the seats up front. Theyre not going to voluntarily pay us more anymore than they would pay more for gas. Were a number on a budget. I'm not saying we need to discourage people from becoming pilots or we should weed people out but I think we need to do a better job of informing people what theyre getting into. We need to dispell the mentality of "I might as well get paid to do my hobby, regardless of how little I make." And this may sound crazy but I think we should also maybe get rid of the whole system of pay where bigger airplanes equal bigger paychecks. I'm sure a million guys will vehemently disagree with me and probaly question my IQ but I'm away from home 20 days a month flying 6 legs a day in a jet. It doesn't make sense that someone working 10 days a month flying 1 or 2 legs a day makes 5-6 times more than me because theyre are more people behind him. I think there should be an average hourly rate across the board based on years of service. Just sayin...crucify me now if you must.

Comair had a nude carwash behind our GSO crew hotel. The van driver would take you for a small donation.
I Never got to go.
