seat qualifications

There are no FARS that tell you which seat you have to fly from. Some aircraft have limitations such as the J-3 cub which state "solo authorized from rear seat only" that you have to look out for.
Most aircraft are configured for left seat flying so of course everything you need will be on the other side but it is no big deal and many CFIs have hundred and thousands of hours in the opposite seat. Where the catch all will be is possibly insurance and a places rental policy and of course the lawyers if god forbid something goes wrong and you did not have a good reason to be there. I can recall flying solo from the right seat a few times as a CFI doing repo and MX flights etc and I can not remember why but at the time there was some reason I did it I just remember. I lived to tell the story.
and what is a "rig?"

In that case....HORRIBLE IDEA!!
What are you thinking??!!They can just as easily manipulate the controls while in the right seat where you are both in a more safe situation. There is no problem allowing them to manipulate the controls in level flight or some basic turns which they can have a great experience while doing it in the right seat.Be careful you do not go down the slippery slope of being a CFI and letting them land and teaching them what you know.
Please as Bob Hoover and Chuck Yeager are my witnesses do not fly from a seat you have never flown from while letting your non pilot friend fly from the left seat where you are both minimally experienced. This is a recipe for problems.

That is what I thought might be the reason.
I have no idea what the rules are on this; but like someone else said - IF the airplane is meant to be flown from the left side, and you are not a CFI giving instruction, I shutter to think what may happen if there was a mishap and you were on the right side. Operational Risk Management says that the gain has to outweigh the risk. I would just think this one out.

Well the person on the left is a Student pilot about to go on his checkride so hes not clueless has how to fly and as for me, iv landed the plane on the right seat a few times no problem, he would be the one landing anyways.

The $50 question is who's the PIC in this scenario? Sounds like it will be you. If the student manipulates the controls and prangs the airplane you will be in a world of hurt. A friend asked me to sit right seat when he was a student, and after some thought I declined.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't do it.

It's your ticket on the line...why would a student pilot be landing? You're not a CFI. Not a smart move.
