Question about B737NG FCC
Hello, everyone!
I am a new B737 pilot, and I really wanna know something about the 737 FCC,
1.What`s it`s function ?
2.Does the FCC has any relationship with the autopilot or FMC or auto landing or something else?
3.If one FCC inop inflight, will that affect the aircraft`s controlability? Will that affect the elevater trim or any control surfaces?
Thank you !!!

It's not part of the need to know gouge for this airplane. It's interesting we just had a single channel of the FCC fail on my last flight. It removed the flight director and autopilot capability from the captain’s side. We had both the Mach trim and Speed trim lights illuminate on a recall indicating this failure.
1. I'm researching more of its functions but it’s tied into many things that the checklist does not address at all.
2. No autopilot on one side with a single channel fail, No Flight Director on one side and if its the left side no HUD flight director cue. No Autoland because you don't have two autopilots. No CAT II or III operations either.
3. If you have a total failure you have to limit your speed to 280/.82 according to the checklist for complete Mach trim failure. I think for the most part controllability is not a problem.
I'll get back to you when I find out more. Stella

Thank u Stella,
What happened to me was I lost capt side CMD & CWS enroute, and on the approuch capt`s fmc was gone. We still had our FDs all the way , nothing alse happened.
It`s weird that we have different situation after a same FCC failed.
I am now asking my mechanic friends for their maintainance manual, after I find the answer, I will share with you guys.
thank you again Stella!

1. Controls the A/P either CMD A or CMD B depending on the one you choose.
2. Yes
3.NO
The 2 Flight Control Computers (FCC) are identified as A and B which is part of the Autopilot flight director system along with a single mode control panel that enable you to chose what A/P you want to fly the aircraft.
The Auto-Flight system is pretty well explained in the B-737NG Flight crew operations manual, ch,4,10 and 11. volume 2. Read the book several times and things would start make sense.....
