Default CRJ Drivers....what headset do you use?

I have tried the search function and can't find a clear thread of just CRJ drivers and headsets. I am on the 700. The company provides David Clamps which I don't care for because they don't fit (I got a big head) and I don't care to swab down a headset before every flight wondering if I got it all. I am eyeballing the MS200 from Plantronics or....keeping my Telex Stratus 30XTs....but the 30XT's are way big to be lugging around everyday. Could current/former CRJ 200/700/900 drivers comment on what they use?

Telex 850, works great, lasts long time...no batteries required! about $400 new.

I tried the Telex 850 and QC2 with uflymike mike setup.
I had the Bose X but finally tried the Lightspeed Mach 1 and loved it. I paid the extra $125 for custom ear molds.

I would never use another headset in the CRJ. I wear sunglasses and find the bose qc2 and X push on the sunglasses frame and after 6-8 hours hurt. Same with 850 but not as bad. The Mach 1 has really great mic pickup. No hissing.

Here is the order I would place on the above headsets.

#1 Lightspeed Mach 1
#2 Bose X
#3 QC2
#4 850

(#3 and #4 are very close tie. QC2 is full ear cup 850 is on ear. both good, just not as good as above.)

The 850 is not as powerful in the ANR realm, but has several advantages...

Relatively Cheap
No Batteries (with most ANR's, when your batteries die you go lost comms)
Light and Comfortable
Small (fits easily in your flight case)

It has enough active and passive noise reduction for the CRJ, but an ERJ or turboprop might be a different story. My TELEXs have all proven indestructible...I lose them before they break.

Sennheiser HMEC-25 KAS.

Work great in CRJ. ANR is great and the KAS version has dual volume controls for each ear(important for turning down the bells and chimes). Sound quality is awesome. Does eat batteries though. I just rotate out some rechargeable's.

you know what I don't understand? wouldn't ANR technically be worse for your ears? sure it 'sounds' quieter, but aren't they really pumping more sound into your ears? more sound = bad... or so i thought?

ANR doesn't add to the overall sound coming in; it cancels out particular frequences of incoming sound waves with an inverse wave. I learned about this way back when in high school physics. Pretty cool concept.

I never wear the temples of my sunglasses under the headset -- You put on the headset, then snug the sunglasses down above the earcup.

Anybody want to trade? I have a Bose X I might be willing to trade for a Clarity-Aloft.
