How do you say you’re financially illiterate without saying you’re financially illiterate!🤔 Even in a hypothetical 50% tax bracket that’s still $8300/per month net! Id recommend educating yourself a little bit or talk to a financial advisor before you do anything else.

It still takes years to build cash for the down and depending on current debt load, that could take a while. At least it’s cheaper than our near million median in the islands.

Debt load is a personal financial problem. Down payment (3%) for a “starter home” for someone making $200k+ a year with no kids shouldn’t be. Let’s not forget “junior captain” is as little as 2 years ON PROPERTY….making $200k/yr with 15% DC and good healthcare! There are numerous 4-5 yr captains making $400k/yr!!

I wouldn't say divided. I would say shortsighted. Immediate gratification is the issue.

So you're saying a CA will go from 180k year three to 400k year four?
Such a bump in responsibility, I guess. This pay scale here is BROKEN. Reserve and open time rules are BROKEN. Unless..... your senior.

I think it's time to tone out the vocal minority on top. Honestly? I don't see too many 3xxxx wearing one of those lanyards from the crew room saying "My MEC Speaks For Me".

Election ends Thursday folks.

I think the pay raise from 3 to 4 is from being able to hold a relief/regular line where you are able to participate in IOT, LIP and Daily open time to increase your income. That is from seniority not a pay scale issue. I know 25+ year captains making 250 and 5 year captains making 500. It's all about what you want.
I also don't see to many 30000 numbers trying to run for MEC office. The FO rep running is a 30000 and CA rep is a 31000. I wouldn't call those numbers junior anymore. Aren't we in the 37000 range for new hires? Soon to be pushing into 38000.

I've flown with several 3xxxx FO's wearing the lanyard.

The point is, as a senior Sunny pilot, are you ready to allow reserve rule improvements to benefit the young majority? Specifically giving up your complete control of 150, 200 or esp 250% open time? Don't change the subject.
In the time I've been a line holder I've been able to pick up ONE trip that paid more than 150%. I sat reserve after upgrade for several years and survived just fine without expecting the rest of the group to make concessions about my not being able to pick up open time. Usually, I get my crappy schedule and fly it without being able to pick ANYTHING up because I'm already working on the days that the rare open time trips are available. But I'm supposed to believe that reserves are losing out on so many opportunities to pick up flying?

Furthermore, I'm one of the guys who gladly picks up LWOP trips at straight pay so that our people that need a Friday or any other day off can have it. I'd MUCH rather help out another pilot than sit around all month and wait for Jude to throw me some crumbs.

I don't think I'm as greedy as you paint me but you do you, boo.

How do you know I'm a senior Sunny pilot? Don't change the subject.
