Fair enough sir. I hear you. I'm not very knowledgeable on any of this.
But I know the next contract will have a slope benefiting the bottom. It's the only way it passes.
PS. And edit. The top button comment wasn't aimed directly at you. Sorry if it may have seemed that way.

Yeah. You’ll get to vote on it in the next contract and the wants of the now majority of what you call a “junior” pilot is going to be what passes

To know our captains are making 200k and being ok with that is embarrassing.
I think what a lot of you don’t realize is that from our (the junior pilots) perspective, is that you are arguing for us to make less money. You WANT us to make less money. Nobody is arguing that YOU should make less money. When I say I’m worth more all you hear is that youre worth less. And NOBODY is making that argument. Nobody. I’m glad that our senior guys are getting the payoff, that you can afford so much. I can’t wait to be there one day. But until then we just want to make something CLOSE to what the industry standard captain can make.
And you (and your other super senior buddies) don’t want me to. It’s weird. This pilot group doesn’t support each other.

I am very much in touch with what $200k can't buy. And this has wandered a long way from my comment on someone's statement about junior 737 captains and the laughable idea that an income in the 96th percentile is a cause of financial stress to the idea that a junior 737 captain should have a vacation home and/or a helicopter.

This job should be able to afford that.

According to the study, Minnesotans currently need an annual income of $91,886 to afford a median-priced home of $323,900 and an average mortgage payment of $2,144. If we have junior captains making 200k on reserve and 200-400 off reserve they should be able to afford a house.

No argument for not making more, but you can't start a family on 200k/year?!? We're a spoiled bunch for sure. I got it, life definitely is more expensive than when I was starting out, but our ideas of starter homes and budgets are vastly different. You have to know how few families in cities all over the country make 200k, let alone sole earners making that much. Seriously, I'd like to see your math on this one.
