if you leave skywest to come to sun country I would think you would want to stay and not then make another leap to a legacy. Year 2 pay with a line and open time with 15%DC will more than make up for the minor pay loss you will take coming to Sunny. Enjoy the money and 15%DC first year and being home. It's not a place to sit reserve at home if you live more than a 2 hour drive from MSP as we only have short call as of now. If you do live close it's great.

Reserve pickups are a concession to the majority of the pilots. The only way to make reserve better is to make it desirable to everyone with more pay and more days off. That’s nothing unique to SY.
You left for delta because they have excellent reserve rules not because you can pick up on reserve.

I get it now! Industry standard pay, standard LTD and 401k direct payments aren't as important for the whole group as reserve pickups. If we have a new administration I'll be sure to tell them I agree we should ignore the needs of the whole group for the needs of the few. /s

The point is, as a senior Sunny pilot, are you ready to allow reserve rule improvements to benefit the young majority? Specifically giving up your complete control of 150, 200 or esp 250% open time? Don't change the subject.

Pay will figure itself out. You're correct on LTD (but that might force concessions on our industry leading medical). And your not satisfied with our 15% direct contribution 401k?

Can anyone with less than 1 year of seniority hold long call?

heard the Federales were sniffing around N831SY in KSFO the other week…shelled a motor on N821SY too. There are much bigger things to be concerned about than reserve rules (which are terrible btw) and new bases.

It’s a problem when the top 15% of pilots are buying 3rd vacation homes, airplanes, and ****ing helicopters for funsies while junior captains and first officers struggle to make enough to afford basic starter homes and have children. Gatekeeping income here is pathetic. Nobody that works at Sun Country needs to ‘pay their dues’ anymore. They’ve done been paid. Especially people willing to be junior captains. To be qualified (and willing) to hold left seat and fly a 737 around the country (and internationally) with upwards of 200 people onboard is a level of responsibility that deserves serious ‘I don’t have any financial stress’ kind of income. We are ALL worthy of that level of income. If we can’t negotiate for it in hourly pay it should be negotiated in work rules, and those work rules should benefit everybody.
To answer the other question, people at ~1 year seniority have relief lines.

I’d really love to know what either of these things has to do with our work-rules / contract issues. Somebody got a ramp check? That seems pretty run of the mill. Shelled an engine? Not going to pretend to know what that means, but it sounds like a maintenance issue. Also pretty common in our industry to have maintenance issues.
