Hot take? Sticking to the title of this thread? Twenty Amazon birds (plus the -900) will demand pilot bases outside Minnie. I see FL (Greg's favorite), CVG, and Metroplex bases by this time next year.

Another? 6-1 FOs to CAs on reserve is not sustainable. They'll either stop hiring or improve reserve pay to get upgrades and fix the ratio. Hopefully improve. Who knows.

Speaking of that. 2/3 of the company wants to pickup open time on reserve. 1/3 covets it. That's a pot of gold majority is ready to fight seniority over. Its time 3xxxx employee numbers are heard. We outnumber 2:1. Inaction to protect the few at the top earning 4 or 500 flying turns isn't sustainable either. Que the senior types telling us junior types how they've earned it.... Rant over. Out.
On point. To your last paragraph - the MEC doing all they can to protect said group is the exact reason they’re not getting voted back in

If this place can grow another 40 planes you will be senior in the 30000# seniority range. The current amount of FO's on reserve is mind boggling. 2-3 new bases will make this place explode. Long trips again, Turns out of new bases along with good trips will allow Sunny to grow. Status quo will not.

Wow does that sound familiar. Sitting on reserve with no end in sight. CS has been giving all the flying to the new hires regardless of guarantee/seniority. The one turn I have gotten called for this month, I get lectured by the super senior guy how reserve is supposed to suck and how he earned this ability to gatekeep open time.. Reserve here is so broken. Reserve isn't supposed to have 50 FO's on it everyday. reserve at my **** regional made more sense, and I could drop reserve and pick up open time.. I'm not sure what the companies plan is to fix it. I'm quite interested to see what they say during this townhall on Tuesday. Open a new base and I'll gladly go to a AFW/CVG and fly freight. The growth is outside of MSP for sure.

Can someone tell me what is so bad about sitting around on reserve at home not getting used? Sounds great to me! LCR even better!

It’s a horrible draconian rule for people new to the company trying to fly and gain experience. As early as people are in their careers, they want to fly. End goal. Not new to company and relatively new to industry. The pay is also now less than most regional carriers which leads to reserve not being competitive pay with even Skywest.

I tend not to post in companies I’ve left. But I couldn’t resist on this one. It’s good to see there are numbers of people continuing to push for that rule change.

What's draconian? Sitting on reserve? Is Sunny the only place that has such a terrible policy?

I also heard that Skywest is hiring so if people want their contract and work rules they should go there or stay there.

You know exactly what I was referencing. The inability to pick up open time on reserve. And. As far as I am aware, it’s the only airline with such rules in place.

if you leave skywest to come to sun country I would think you would want to stay and not then make another leap to a legacy. Year 2 pay with a line and open time with 15%DC will more than make up for the minor pay loss you will take coming to Sunny. Enjoy the money and 15%DC first year and being home. It's not a place to sit reserve at home if you live more than a 2 hour drive from MSP as we only have short call as of now. If you do live close it's great.

Reserve pickups are a concession to the majority of the pilots. The only way to make reserve better is to make it desirable to everyone with more pay and more days off. That’s nothing unique to SY.

You left for delta because they have excellent reserve rules not because you can pick up on reserve.
