Any chance of expedited training for an FO at Sunny if you already have an ATP and 737 type with several hundred hours?

Generally that's not how it works at airlines You have to do the full program. ATP and type means that the checkride examiner has a little bit more leeway to give training and allow another try if you goof something up. And of course the training will be a breeze.

There are provisions (rarely used) where the FAA will allow pilots who are currently qualified on type at another airline to do some abbreviated training, but the airline has to get approval. They typically don't bother unless they intend to bring on more than a few folks from the same source. Merger typically but I've seen it once with a regional poaching from another, failing regional.

Nope. We’ve had several hired here over past few years with years of experience/typed on the NG and they had to do the full course just like everyone else.

Default delays continue

Major delays in new hire ops... Finally upper management is taking a proactive step in slowing down the hiring. Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, and May classes all put on hold with a TBD class date... Not sure how this is going to keep up with JB growth fantasies? Its really unfortunate that the company didnt do a better job with the scheduling and communication. It would really be interesting to see behind the curtain at how many of those offered CJO bounce to a different operator with this latest hiccup. Im guessing over 50%+.

From talking to people in the know, the root of the training department's problems is really the fact that they pull pretty heavily from the colleges for the bridge program now and those guys make up the vast majority of the incompletes and delays nowadays. With system that has no wiggle room for incompletes.

I heard there may be a decent hiring freeze for months just to completely retool the initial new hire program. Not even necessarily just to work through the backlog. Rumor is the colleges in the bridge program are starting to blackball us. So an entirely new program + new scheduling seems to be the solution.

Benefits question for you all: Company website advertises that flight benefits start from day one. Is this true for myself and my travel companions (parents, dependants, spouse, etc.), or am I the only who can immediately utilize non-reving? Situation - start date is a tuesday, and ill need to fly out friday night.

Any updates on how the changed training program has been going?
