I've heard this is likely happening also. What is the general feeling from the US guys about Aussies coming over on E3's? Are you happy for it to happen or against it? As an aussie myself I would not want to come over and fly for Sun/Spirit or Atlas if we are not wanted/welcome.

it means that the contract that the company thought was gonna be enough but the union said it wasn’t enough is true. The lack of pay, delayed trip rig and min day. Bases and positive space commuter bank would’ve made a huge difference. It all falls on the management for not being able to hire 30-60 a month a grow like crazy after Covid.

It's not that they wouldn't be welcome it's just that it's another stopgap, nobody is sitting in Australia saying oh I wish I could fly for Sun Country airlines. They will come here to get whatever they need to do to move on. It's disheartening when every conversation with a fellow pilot inevitability comes to "so... got your stuff out there?"

Seems like all that is happening is the revolving door is filling up and spinning faster.. Nothing new with Sunny other than attrition on a larger scale.

There’s well qualified US regional pilots (living in MN nonetheless) who are not getting a call to interview. They’ve apparently got a healthy pool of applicants.

A base outside of MSP would do wonders. Everyone wins, just my opinion. I just think they are trying to keep up with demand out of MSP/Amazon and they can't. So why open another base now? Unfortunately, I think more would stay if they could commute to a east coast (orlando) or west (LA/PHX/Vegas) rather than MSP. In the last few classes more than half are commuters...so how many want to commute to MSP when they have the oppourtunity to not commute for an airline near them?

This stuff at a regional level is one thing but if the bigger players start doing this on a grand scale as well you can say farewell to the extra contract bargaining power you may have ever had at any airline. Pilot shortages and desperation by management = power to get things improved.

Bringing in temporary visa workers is not helping anyones cause let me assure you right now. Kind of amazed this hasn't become a hotter topic yet to be honest. Its kinda like the call centers...just get overseas workers to step in and do it and you can keep conditions + pay lower for the locals doing the same job.

Worse still, when the economy turns and the temporary visa workers with seniority higher than citizens keep their jobs and the others are furloughed.

Disclaimer - I love the Aussies and their Vegemite, I just think its a terrible terrible solution to this problem.

Default Vaccine exemption

What is Sun Country’s position on vaccines right now? I have a CJO and will be needing an exemption. How is the approval process right now?

Unrelated. Can I ask about your hours when hired?

I don't think there is a mandate, last I heard from HR was that they won't be requiring proof of vaccine. Maybe the CRAF aspect still needs it but there is a simple form on employee website that you can get exemption. They were pencil whipping those approvals pretty quick, like matter of minutes
