Default How much are you flying as a new hire?

Question for the new hires. As a new hire on reserve, how much can one expect to fly in a month?
Any news on how long reserve is lasting?
I like the company and if hired it sounds like living in base is the way to go.

Thanks for the info.

Right after you are off OE they release you to crew scheduling, they usually let you build out your month by taking stuff from open time. Luckily I had a lot of HNL flights in open time to take so that was a lot of pay.

All in all, I was used quite a bit. My first two months on the line, I broke guarantee. I was on AM reserve, those are the ones who get used the most. After that, I was switched to PM reserve which is used less.

I spent 4 months on reserve (2 am reserve, 2 pm reserve) before I was awarded a vacation relief line.

It was good for me, but YMMV!

What's your pay during training? What's typical take-home pay as a new hire?

If memory serves, you get full MMG all through training. Depending on what you do for deductions/insurance, you can be taking home anywhere between 1600-1800 per check.

The company and union are concluding negotiation on the new contract right now, they said they want it done by the end of November. Hopefully pay goes up significantly with it.

Thanks. That's good to hear about the contract! Hopefully it would be put into effect quickly as well.

Contract stuff sounds good! I wonder what else is gonna increase. With the most recent Alaska video I’m sure Sun Country is having the same issues.

with all other companies in negotiation, we should be looking for something above the current average, or we will just have the same problem as alaska. the company should agree if they want to retain and attract pilots beyond the next few months.

Any info on what the new pay scales and/or other benefits would improve? I imagine it's probably hush hush.

Ya, they are playing it pretty close to the vest, only speaking in generalizations, hopefully that changes soon.

On Friday, the union told us they sent the company a full language proposal on a bunch of different sections of the contract and a letter of intent to implement PBS by the end of 2022. They seem confident to get something done by the end of November.

If the company accepts the proposal, then the union can start releasing the specifics of the contract.

Implementation by end of 2022? Pardon my ignorance, but why would that take so long if the agreement is completed?
