I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that if you can tell the difference between Gear Up and Gear Down, you can distinguish between the ADD and SWAP buttons on Flica.

The issue isn't improving your QOL, it's the piggies who gobble up the open time at straight pay during DOT (some with bot software) and block 100 hrs a month with 6 days off who are the problem.

Ed, I don't think anyone is saying that and if they are then they're wrong.

Bid for transition conflicts if you can get them. Then bid IOT to improve your QOL, commute, and even pay if you want to. Take the same liberties during DOT. That isn't the problem.

What is the problem is the company not paying sufficient rates to attract enough pilots to cover the flying and guy/gals gobbling up trips inside of 48 hours. You have a contractual right to bid, drop, add, and swap what your seniority can hold during bidding, IOT, and DOT. But we have got to stop saving the company for their ineptitude inside of 48 hours.

I swapped a 4 day on the first for another 4 day on the first. New trip pays 5 hours more and works 10 hours less. That's not gravy, that's just smart. I got paid more and put more flying hours in open time.

Absolutely! That's definitely smart.

One problem with IOT/DOT are straight adds. That's not improving your QOL...that's just bailing the company out at 50% of your value.

Because you're still benefiting from the work ALPA volunteers are performing on your and everyone else's behalf even though it may not immediately or directly benefit your bank account. That's why!

So if in IOT I drop 3 trips because I didn't get the days off I wanted. Then during DOT i "ADD" to make up lost credit back up to guarantee am I choking? In that situation this HARDLY sounds like choking. In fact it sounds like purely QOL. Not all "ADD" situations are equal.

That's not an add, that's a swap. Massive difference...don't be obtuse.

Although judging by some of the doozies coming through the schoolhouse, I guess it's not too far a stretch to see how some would attempt to conflate your example with choking.
