As of today we have 58 pilots that wish to meet with the larger airlines. The number drop for this event is due to the FAPA event last month and the other open houses that Spirit hosted.

Howdy! Couple questions for the ladies and gents here. I'm a current regional captain looking to move on to an airline i can see myself staying for the rest of my career. (30+ years) I live in East Texas and my airline doesn't have a base here so not wanting to commute for the rest of my life. I don't care to work for a major if my qol at spirit over time will payoff sooner. Also seems like the new contract y'all are working on will be be nothing for people to stick their noses up at.. Anyone have an idea what first year pay will be? Is Spirit better than what I'm currently doing and are the majority of guys and girls happy at spirit and not wanting to leave (besides the contract which seems to be working itself out soon)? Thanks! Droops

You are not going to get a good answer on here. Talk to a friend that works at Spirit if you have one or a friend of a friend of a friend. Get in touch with an actual pilot at Spirit off the forum boards if you want a straight forward honest answer.

No one knows what will be in our next contract except a pay raise of some amount and more efficient scheduling language. Beyond that it is anyone's guess. No one knows when we will get a TA; could be a few months, could be a few years.

All the forum posted and public information is based on individual opinions and rumors.

Copy that. Thank you for your input!

Don't make your decision based on the next contract until it's TA'd and the ink is dry. Base your decision on Contract 2010, which was amendable for 3+ years, and negotiated only after a strike.

It'll be 2 years in august right? We did open early negotiations so it's probably been close to "3+" since we have been negotiating. Maybe that's what he was referring to

FlyingOkra 07-11-2017 07:39 PM

He must be referring to Contract 2003, which was amendable in 2007, negotiated for 3 years, and required a Strike to produce Contract 2010.

FLYBOYMATTHEW 07-11-2017 08:32 PM

Sorry, meant contract 2003 was amendable for 3+years. Point being, there seems to be a pattern of 5 year contracts with 8 year terms around here.

But, there is a 4-lane freeway to the finish line now, sooooo....
