Exactly. We are getting iPads either way eventually (even if they try to bargain for them). This is an loa for training essentially.

So a non-fll based pilot will need 2 days of travel plus class equaling three days for training. Doesn't this one day of classroom in effect equal at least 2 extra days off because they would have to drop a trip to get you to and from FLL and have the required time off before and after training?

As long as we are still required to attend class for 1 day, I feel like we are going to get a training conflict out of this. Assuming you are not FLL based.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
For now, but keep in mind, all you are coming in for is to open the doors / build the raft. Don't think they won't send Bruce to your base to do an over night open the door session on a RON aircraft (while they do a weekly of course), then build the raft / finish everything else in a rented broom closet at the airport. I don't know if you HAVE to open the door in the armed position, but I'm sure they could figure something out.

I think this is better than both delta and united but they took their knocks and huge gains elsewhere. We aren't getting anything for this except 2 hrs of pay. It's better than industry but concessionary for us. Now if they want to attach better ltd retirement and pay scale to this then I'd be willing to maybe go for it.

Another thing to think about. With this loa they will combine all recurrent training into one event. For everyone outside fll recurrent has to be two separate events due to the travel days. That will go bye bye.

Something else that has not been addressed is what will the training curriculum look like. Currently it's show up and keep a seat warm for three days and pass. I have done online training in the past and the experience has not always been positive.

I would accept this only if it was attached to a new and improved contract. Otherwise, I see no reason to give up a concession just so I don't have to do Jep revisions anymore.

They really ought to save the distance training bit for contract negotiations. This quickie LOA should have been just about implementation of the efb's.

Maybe that will be the result of a NO vote, but the company would loose (or lose for Gringo ) the only leverage THEY have on the issue - Jepp updates and having to mule charts around. Even if we get what we want (no updates) and push what they want to section 6, I'm sure, based on past practice, we will loose our a$$ in the end anyway.

Now if only oil was high we could show fuel savings from the extra 20 lbs of charts each of us is carrying.
