Being optimistic, I believe that NK will not grow as they planned years ago. My humble opinion is that this company makes more money by putting people on furlough than opening new services and expanding its fleet. it is just sad that every year when the slow season arrives they have to ask for voluntary leave etc, instead of looking for an alternate service to compensate that reduced capacy.
My 2 cent opinion.
Keep the hope!!!

Spirit wants to grow. The problem is that over capacity can kill any airline. Growth was expected to be aggressive before the oil crisis. With the number of pax decreasing substantially, it is necessary to either cut capacity (as we already did Sept. of last year) or grow at a very slow rate. The Airbus orders are firm... 37 total... with 4 coming next year. Regular growth is expected by 2012 with 6 arriving every subsequent year. Spirit wants to have around 65 to 70 aircraft. Nothing is known beyond that, but we all know that nothing is certain in the airline industry.

The exception is Avianova from Russia, owned by Indigo and Alpha Group. They have 2 A320's, with none on order yet. I hope to see orders for them soon, otherwise that might not be a good thing (i.e. transfer of assets).

Hey guys, I spoke with a union rep yesterday, and he said that we will not be required to pay back the money from the longevity while on furlough issue. He told me he got the word from the MEC chairman. I will believe it when I see it in writing from the company, but at least its some hopeful news on that front. I did log on to ess and noticed the company has changed back my seniority date(which that system uses for longevity) to my original hire date. It was changed to reflect the new longevity date ablout a month ago, so that leads me to believe that it might be true.......fingers crossed!

Let Us Hope, it seems that is part of our daily routine here at NK. Never the less it's a good trend.
Thanks for the update Scott.

Wow! Awesome news. Checked ESS and my date was readjusted back too. I'm really hoping that is true. I was due to "pay back" around $1700 dollars... Thanks for sharing...
