fwiw, looks like if things continue the way they are going, a new hire today should be a CA in 3 years. Of course I wouldn't hold my breathe but just a nice FYI for ya

From what I was told J. made his case a couple days ago to BBB for iPads. He apparently came in his office with one month worth of dispatch paperwork, charts and all the manuals we use to convince him of its use and the long term savings.

Hahaha, love it...8000+ dep a month,3 cents a sheet, 40 pages or so per release....say about 10,000 a month with no revisions, not counting ink, and manuals, Jepps, blah, blah blah!!!

I hope he got the idea!!

Was this to speed up the process or just push iPads? We already asked for bids.

Default NK Dispatchers reach agreement

MIRAMAR, Fla., Aug. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spirit Airlines (SAVE) Dispatchers, represented by the Transport Workers Union (TWU), voted to ratify a new contract reached between the airline and the TWU. The new five-year agreement was ratified by TWU Members at Spirit Airlines yesterday and became effective today.
"We are pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial and competitive agreement that recognizes our high quality team of Dispatchers for the great job they do every day for the company and our customers," said Spirit's President and CEO Ben Baldanza. "We look forward to further building a relationship of mutual trust and respect with all of our dispatch team members."
The agreement provides improved pay for Spirit's Dispatchers while at the same time maintaining efficiency and supporting the company's continued growth and ability to offer ultra low fares, optional services and low total prices for its customers.
"I am extremely pleased to have reached an agreement that recognizes the critical role our Members play and provides the economics that allow Spirit Airlines to remain the leading Ultra Low Cost Carrier of the Americas," said TWU Local 540 President Alex Giarrocco.

That's good news. Anybody have an idea what the amendable date was?
I remember last time they were negotiating the company trained a bunch of schedulers and such to work in dispatch. Would have almost been worth the dispatchers going on strike just to watch the ensuing comedy.
