The only negative they say are not enough flights and seasonal only service for flights what appear to be in high demand but its easy and inexpensive if you're flexible and don't have 12 carry on bags. I also thought it was interesting that our completion factor was so high. I guess with little frequency the flights have to, whereas United has some 12 flights per day to some cities, lol

Now I am about to say something negative about Spirit so I will be ready for you guys to jump all over me.....I grew up in Cape May and still have family there, most fly Spirit and hate it but its better than the drive to phl and taking Airways. I wonder if someone other than Spirit(because of a very very good casm) could make ACY work ie jetBlue what would happen to their market share. I have all the respect for Spirit and they make tons of cash I just think they are really good at staying out of the way of other airlines( for the most part yes I know about DFW)......Now that I have not been totally positive about Spirit feel free to bash me.....:D

You didn't say anything bad about us,the business model is something we pilots can't control, there are unhappy people that expect first class seats at coach rates and happy people flying spirit tight quarters, in any case we are cure when it come to criticism.

All I can say, we do all we can on the line to make it as pleasurable as possible.

No bashing needed at all, you're not telling lies or something that's not true. Management has acknowledged the fact that customer service needs to improve, and I believe they'll make improvements.
Like Sailor said, the business model is nothing the pilot force can influence, but they can influence the public perception of he execution of that business model. I haven't heard any complaints, be they from passengers, social media or word of mouth, about the pilots, most complaints come from the "hidden charges, excessive charges and nitpicking charges".
I think most passengers are pretty happy with the actual flying, but what do I know, I'm still a noob.

I have no doubts that the flight crew does the best they can

I dunno, I just think people like to hate Spirit just because...... When I non rev, (or just sit in the back) I have seen way more ****ed off people on United, the gate agents are Just the most miserable human beings in the world and the FAs treat EVERYONE like dirty scum. JetBlue everyone is fantastic, same with SWA. I have only been on DAL a few times but it was a good experience, AA was ok but jesus their airplanes are beat to hell. I see the interaction with Spirit people and passengers are usually happy. I also noticed Spirit passengers still clap on landing, way more than any other airline. The people who complain (from what I have seen) are those who think the rules don't apply to them and get stuck paying because they get caught trying to bring a carry on without paying.

Just out of curiosity, how is DTW looking these days? Shriking at all? Can new hires hold Motown after doing their ACY sentence after a few months? ;)

JoeyMeatballs 08-13-2013 01:35 PM

I don't think anyone has to go to ACY anymore, at least that's how the past few bids have looked. DTW has way more open time than ACY and is still larger so who knows.....

It could be possible to hold DTW right out of training. Worst case, as of now, you would be in ACY for 1 month.
