Very cool. Wish Spirit would offer service to LIT, it'd be nice to have someone other than American and Southwest to fly out of here.

You would think there would be more routes out of DFW, as the base expands there. How big will the base get? Are there any hard numbers?

Hard to tell. They always find something new, that will be the biggest base, then they find something else and drop everything. A year ago LAS was going to get as big as FLL. Right now LAS is stagnating.

DFW will probably get big. I can see 100 per seat by the end of the year. Right now they have 40 as of March. I doubt management knows. They like to stay flexible and I can't blame them for that. Plans are changing frequently. We are watching the legacies, and if we see a market that seems overpriced, we go in. In other words, the legacies make a move, then we make a move. DFW was the result of the AA bankruptcy. We started to crank up LAS when US Air was pulling back, etc.

I think we already announced a bunch of new routes from DFW in the spring. I forget them all, but we've got CUN, OAK, PHL, MSP, and a few more I think that we start from DFW in the next few months.

As for the DFW base, the latest estimate(take it for what it's worth) is around 80 crews by summer, possibly more after that.

I'm newly based in FLL . . . Can anyone recommend a decent FLL hotel with shuttle service and a generous crew rate? Free breakfast would be great, too . . . . Thx.

Believe it or not, the Roadway Inn off of SR 84 (Marina Mile) is decent. Rooms renovated within the last 2 years, van service, ok sports bar attached. Free breakfast, nothing special- little boxes of Cheerios, apples, muffins, etc. The price is right though; used to be about $60/night out the door with crew ID no matter what was going on in town.

You'll be able to get nicer places for that price and maybe even cheaper sometimes (Priceline worked well for me); the wild card in South Florida is demand. The place you found for $80/night 2 weeks ago now wants $225. That was the nice thing about the Roadway- one price all the time.
