Is there anyone here that has attended another job fair with Spirit and it has actually paid off? Just curious as to thoughts on what goes on there and what they might be looking for? I'm very interested in working for Spirit especially now that they are opening a DFW base. Thanks.
We all think and wonder why can't they run interviews right then in there, like 07-08...who knows, new team, new rules.
Apparently the outcome seems to be a positive one after they meet you and after a successful interview.
Good luck.

I far as I know, it's just a "meet and Greet" type of thing, the hiring team calls it a "put a face with the resume". Then get an invite to a formal interview.

If you don't have an internal recommendation, it is far and away the best way to get your resume into the short stack. If you already have a internal (or 3-5), you should already know this from your contacts - going shows you want to work here. Relying on the recommendation shows you are 'playing the field', just waiting for a bite, but Spirit isn't your first choice.
Think of it this way - if you REALLY want to make a career @ Spirit, you will find a way to get to a job fair, just like anything else that is important to you. Some guys might have 30+ years here. If you can't get your butt to a job fair, then, fortunately, there are plenty of other guys who will be happy to take your slot while you wait for whatever airline you REALLY want to work for (the line for Spirit is apparently HUGE, you have to make a reservation now to see the Spirit rep, fyi).
What are they looking for? Same as everyone else (good attitude, easy to get along with, a resume showing you can fly your way out of a paper bag, etc). Ideally, jet PIC, glass/fms time, or international experience will all help. We fly jets, Airbuses are the ultimate glass aircraft, 'managed', not flown, so you've got to be able to work the FMS (Airbus calls it a MCDU, know what it means - do a freaking google search), and we fly both domestic and international routes, so, if you know how to do a position report, good.
Rumor is we like to hire guys who live near our junior bases, ACY, DFW, and LAS.
Good luck.

NedsKid, thanks for the input!! It sounds like a great idea then to go to the job fair, glad I'm going.
I've been scouring the Spirit posts, looks like an internal rec is most important and highly coveted. Attending the job fair, then becomes the only way.

The company posts a reserve grid that shows how mnay reservers are available each day and how many trips are open each day. They also posts their required reserve buffer each day.
If the net reserves (reserves-open trips) is equal to or less than the required buffer, the day is considered "Red", so you can not trade out of it or drop it.
Basically, every single day next month is Red so you cant even swap around.

Been trying to talk the wife into Spirit lately but she really enjoys our current travel benefits so I am curious as to what kind of flight benefits Spirit has? Do you have ZED agreements with other airlines? We just want to travel as much as possible while we are still young and childless. Thanks.
