THANKS ACS!

I guess we finally made it guys and gals!
The pilot head hunters are in full force looking to fill our empty cockpit seats.**

Funny, before the BIG PILOT SHORTAGE, it would have taken DECADES to go through the thousands of internal rec's to fill our 16 pilots/mo.

Candidates, please make checks payable to "RR" (see, I can do it too), with the assurance that you will be put in the stack somewhere, based on:

1. Who you know
2. Strengths on your resume (or cv for you non Americans) aka "Experience"
3. Phase of the moon on the day you interview.

** All applicants will be considered for employment, or "placed in the stack", or discarded. Paying to attend this event will have no impact on your employment status, but will be appreciated by a few mid level managers that will use the cash generated, to fund an ALL expenses paid vacation to Central/South America.

Thank you for your interest in Spirit Airlines!

If all truth it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

No list, show @ the gate, first come, first serve, 2 seats up front on MOST of our 319's, 1 seat on the rest and all of our 320's, 2 seats on our 321's, welcome aboard, glad to have you.

Every carrier's policy can be found here.

Although you don't have to list ahead of time, the gate agents would much prefer you call and list. 866-609-8858. Call and list no more than 72 hours ahead and they will usually tell you the load and if another pilot has already listed for the flight.

Happy travels.

Yes do list.
Not only do the gate agents prefer it, it will also get you in line. It is not really first come first serve for the cockpit jumpseat. It is first list first serve.
Of course Spirit pilots will have priority over off line pilots though.

Good luck getting an answer though. Don't even bother holding if the "please wait" message picks up immediately. I'm convinced that IT has an auto-ignore button that they use liberally.

Who controls our jumpseat, the gate agent or the PIC?

I'm all for helping out the agent if you can, but the agent is there to assist the PIC, not the other way around.

I hope that if it gets down to a situation where we're leaving a guy behind, the PIC is making sure the guy being left behind was the last guy to check in (at the gate), not the off-line guy who showed up early and got 'bumped' by another off-line guy who rolled up to the gate a few minutes prior to departure after listing for the flight hours prior. Our ALPA Jumpseat Committee's policy is clear - "first come, first serve", not "first list, first serve".

Lets prevent the further erosion of PIC authority.
