I was scheduled to work the last 6 days of the month and the line I was awarded for Aug works the first 6 days. That's 12 days in a row and they can only resolve a transition legality conflict by removing days from the begining or end (or a combination of both) of the conflict. The decided to remove my last 6 days of this month to make me legal.

What am I doin wrong? I keep bidding conflicts, but all that ever really happens is that I wind up with a 3 day instead of a 4 day.... I have a 30 in 7 issue for August- who knows...

You need to bid for more than 6 days in a row between the two months. For example a 4 day in the current month and a 4 day in the new month. If you bid option 1, they have to drop either the 4 day in the current month and pay protect you, or drop the 4 day in the new month and can give you any combination of trips or reserve days to equal up to 6 days in a row (the max allowed). They have to drop from the outsides only, so the best scenario is a 2 day+4 day in the current month, and a 4 day+2day in the new month. That's 12 days in a row and they have to drop at least 6. But they have to drop from the outsides of the conflict, so typically they will drop both 2 days and either the current month 4 day (and no replacement trip) for 8 days extra off, or they may drop both 2 days and the 4 day in the new month, but then they can replace eligible days with trips or R days to the max of 6 days total. So you would have your original 4 day in the current month, and a 2 day in the new month, still giving you an extra 6 days off total (2 in current month+4 in new month).
If you bid option 2, they can only drop trips and not add any at all, but you're not pay protected for the new month dropped trips. You would end up with more days off but less guarantee.
30/7 conflicts aren't as prevalent because our trips aren't super high value typically, so I don't count on that as much as days in a row.
Clear as mud?

It probably (maybe) is because they had extra captains and gave them relief lines with the trips on them. In DTW it is steady, but the trips get soaked up quickly because of the FO's that upgraded to somewhere else trading to pick up DTW trips. Open time doesn't last long in DTW.
