They hire everyone, but it seems like right now you have to have an ATP and a rec

I think you get a bonus point if you live in one of our domiciles as well.

I agree... From my interview experience it seemed like Spirit is concerned about people wasting resources by getting a free type rating and bailing to go overseas, JB, or VX. Someone who already lives in domicile gives them a little assurance that Spirit is where they really want to be.

Well that's great to hear since I live one hour drive away from KDTW and that's my domocile for Pinnacle. This is why I am itching at the chance to get an interview.

Ill go ahead and say it since someone on here will and i am in the same boat as you, DTW is super senior, might take as little as 2 months or as long as a year or more to hold it as an fo and probably 15 years to hold it as a captain.

Internal recommendations and patience. Just about every pilot getting hired here lately has had someone on the inside pulling (met a guy last week who went to a Spirit job fair - no internals). Even then, there is a huge stack of qualified candidates, and we'll likely pass on some great guys (we already have, please don't give up, we want you here). Be patient, and try to work an internal connection. Apply to other carriers too - Spirit isn't the only fish in the sea, and you can always hang out @ Southwest or FedEx until Spirit calls..

Ned--

Thanks for the info. How does NK feel about currency?? I meet all the quals, but currency is getting in the way. (3 interviews at regionals no dice)

Why would one leave Spirit to go to Virgin America? Especially considering Spirit is opening up LAS? What gives?

JB = Serious airline, lots of money, quick upgrade, EFB
VX = Real pilot uniforms, cool AC, money making company, great salaries

And you get to tell people that you work for JB or VX. What did i miss?

I might be wrong, but perhaps they get a warm and fuzzy if you live at a domicile in the sense that you can commute from that domicile if need be and that you eventually know you can hold it whether it'll be in 2-12 months or 10 years, the fact that you live at a domicile could be viewed as a little more convenient. But who knows what they might be thinking at the time.
