I think, they need a pretty good idear on how many crews, acording to the flying that they expect to do out of vegas, now that is official they can work on the numbers.

or

I think, they dont have a pretty good idear on how many crews, flights, AC's, and they are going to play by ear until they close the base.

Either way, you and I are gonna find out last. And thats the WORD.

Cheers

As soon as flight ops was made aware of the decision they notified the pilot group...same day. No details have been released because they haven't been worked out completely yet.

Like usual, they probably got ahead of themselves, and now need to figure out how they are going to do this. They can't really take away anyone from another base without leaving it short staffed, so they are seeing how training will go, how many people will be available, and waiting on airframes to put on the route. I think our bottle neck is always training. They always wait to the last minute to save money, and then have to scale back plans because we can't get the people into position.
What are you thinking? Do you think you'll go? I know it's a shorter commute. What do you think the trips will be like?

I would imagine they won't post specifics until the current vacancy bids play out. I hope it doesn't fall through. I'm already cleaning out my house so I can un-ass it asap. Can't wait to see fort lauderdale in my rear view mirror

What you are saying is this: Flight Ops wasn't in on the decision. I guarantee you that the company didn't make a basing decision without having a complete plan A and plan B and Plan C.

If they did in fact make a rash base decision, we're screwed because you can't run a multi million dollar business on a hunch. Considering that we survived $147/barrel oil and a credit crisis, I think our leadership is pretty dang business savvy. I can't say I'm happy about the way we treat human beings, but I can't argue with the BBB/Franke business model. It makes money and is surviving quite well.

Same commute. I'm waiting for the number LAS crews to be announced. I'm not going if it looks like I'll lose relative seniority. I have no idea about the trips, but I'm thinking they would not open the base to make our lives easy; therefore the pairings will contain a minimum of RON's. Someone smarter than me will have to opine on the actual pairing composition. I'm hoping for minimal red eye trips.

I think you have been around long enough, and been involved enough, to know how decisions are made here...

That's the bummer of it. We won't know what the lines will look like until we are already out there. Rollin the dice as it were. Appropriate for Vegas though...
