Yeah ok sure. I know it had nothing to do with delta folks giving up 40% of their pay and let's see oh yeah, your pension. Not to mention spirit has not yet farmed out 50% of our flying to an rj company. I am pleased however that my 540 pilot/36 aircraft airline has so much power over your airline.

I guess it was actually your fault I didn't get a better contract...

2001-2005 and in bankruptcy was a very different time, than 2010 with with the power of a strike. You (& ALPA )held all the cards and signed a deal for less than bankruptcy/concession contacts. That's the bottom line!

That being said I do agree its a small part of the industry, but every part counts and until ALPA realizes that we are all doomed to be under cut.

I'd take our work rules over any other airline any day, including the "great" Delta. Once you give away scope and work rules, you never get them back. You folks gave those away years ago, and we negotiated against that. Now you have the nerve to accuse us of hindering your negotiating position! PLEASE! You have 12k pilots, we have 500. Go take your whining over to the Virgin America thread.

Big Guns, 2010 was a time of record high fuel prices and in the midst of one of the worst economic recessions in the US's history. Please dont feed us your BS about "it was a very different time" and somehow imply that the strike occurred during favorable times.

Now you did it, you kicked over the hornet's nest of the "I'm just glad to be out of that darn RJ" crowd. We do, in fact have the BEST work rules of any regional out there. These guys had no idea (and still don't) what kind of leverage they had, and pi$$ed it away.

I don't believe you will have much impact on future negotiations at Delta.
Some of the statements are however incorrect. Delta unlike many airlines in chapter 11 managed to maintain almost every work rule.
We kept 1 for 2 and 1 for 1.75 on backside flying. We kept 1 for 3.5 duty rigs and the 5:15 DPA as well as almost all the other smaller work rules like requiring 2 Captains on over 12 flying and not allowing cruise pilots. I can go on and on but few if any work rules were given up.
In addition Delta pilots did not give up their retirement. This is again a post that is factually incorrect. They agreed to the termination of the current retirement plan in exchange for a 650 million dollar note, Uncontested transfer and payment of a MPP funds to the pilots, PBGC money, stock and a ongoing DC plan that effective 1 Jan 12 pays 14 percent into each pilots retirement fund.
I was one of the dead zoners who had the most to lose in retirement. I would not trade my new retirement plan to go back to the old plan. I am entirely divorced from Delta. Its all in my name now. I should end up in the 70 to 80 percent range from what the DB plan would have paid. Yes it was reduced but we did not give up the retirement. We traded it for a new plan and much more certain outcome.

Ram I will disagree here. I think a lot of people realize that our "return on investment" was short. When people ask about our contract, I say it isn't bad and I personally can't complain, but for going on strike we came up short.

I enjoy my QOL here and and think we have a decent thing going, but yes it could have been better. There are people on both extremes of the spectrum you on one side and Captscott on the other and a lot like me in between. Just my .02
