Well what area of aviation would you prefer to work in, corporate or airline?

Well, 121 is all I've known, but I have a couple of friends in the right places in corporate/135, so I could go either way. Of course they are not hiring either. I was just wondering if I was to get a "free" type, what would be the most useful, but I guess that is very subjective. I'll check out the other thread. Thanks guys.

I gave up on finding an aviation job after I have quit 2 "stunt pilot" jobs in 4 months. Right now I am not even trying, much less do I care for finding a flying one. While I was still actively looking I remember seeing Lear jobs a lot. The corporate guys could tell you the info in half a second I am sure. Perhaps you should post it there.

Unfortunately having a type nowadays is not enough, not even for SIC. Pathetic really but it is market driven weather we like it or not. On the other hand, once the economy will turn around you will be able to get a SIC gig without a type or any time in the plane as long you are willing to wash it a bit. Sarcasm here... Of course having a type will always be better because it does not cost your operator anything to put you into the left. So you get there sooner.

I guess you could go and find some stats on which type is the most commonly registered in the US. There has to be some data on it.

So with that said, I would get a type that fits my long term goals and not one that will lend me a job tomorrow. Chances are whatever job you find at this moment, will be one that you will be running away from in two years. That is just my $0.02.

dn- no, I've been delaying this, because I don't want to just get a random type and it not do me any good. I don't want to waste dollars and time if I don't have any solid leads. I know this is different from what I previously said (get any type for free), but I feel if I'm asking for money, it should be well spent.

norm- good advice. I know what you mean about looking down the road. I am going to think about this a bit more.

Good point left, I'm getting the 737 because I figure with the A320 and 737 types I'll be marketable to almost every airline in the country. You know just as an incase or if something better comes along. I would highly suggest a C-500 type if you get enough money, it covers so many planes and maybe if your lucky you can get out of the airlines!!!

Bite your tounge! Get out of the airlines?!? Seriously, I am addicted to the lifestyle. Show up for work, go for an airplane ride, then overnight in some cool (or warm) city 4 to 5 times a week. It will be hard to give that up, when I get back to work, of course.

Sorry, sarcasm doesn't translate very well on here. I'll take anything that would improve my QOL. I am seriously considering corporate. It's nice to know that I do have a job waiting if all else fails.

I left the airlines to go corporate and lost my job along with thousands of others... No recall rights either. Had I stayed at the airlines I would still be flying.
