I have to disagree with your perception statement. I'm not saying we have the greatest reputation in the business. However, the product we provide works well for many people, as is evident by the overwhelming number if full airplanes. I am not ashamed to work for Spirit. We are a growing company that provides air travel to a segment of the population that may not otherwise be able to afford it. Unfortunately, along with that comes very few of the amenities that have long been associated with air travel( first class, free drinks and snacks, etc.). We work for an airline that makes money, even in the toughest of economic times. Could we improve in some areas, definately. I think we are way better than we were a few years ago though, and hopefully we will continue to improve. To say that we walk around with our badges turned backwards is nonsense! If you do, then perhaps you should reevaluate where you want to work. Look, Spirit is what it is. We will never be American or Delta or Continental. Anyone that is working here waiting for it to become that is delusional. I am happy to work here though. I wear my badge facing out, as do most of us.
For anyone interested in applying, the pay is average, the quality of life is the best in the business, and the pilot group is awesome. You take all the rest in stride.

Pay is slightly below average. QOL is on the high end of good, but not even CLOSE to best in the business, and the pilot group is like any other, although I do personally believe our "No Fly/Weirdo" Captains are not your normal weirdo’s, they are on the extreme side. With that said the good ones are really good.
I think Normans picture was spot on. But I also disagree with the badge turned around statement, but I guarantee you that whenever one of our guys tells someone who they work for 1 of 2 things is said following it.
1) "It's still a small airline that’s why you've never heard of it."
2) Read CaptScotts defense of Spirit. Cause that is always what it is, a defensive response.

That's the dumbest thing I've read today. I don't have a problem flying around brand new jets, living in base and enjoying all my time off. If you don't like it here, leave. I'm sure plenty of people would love your spot. Why trash the place you work that provides you a pretty decent income and an awesome job?

I agree, I was asking the other day about that, and I was told by a Sr guy that all or most of them were hired back in the day when nobody wanted to touch NK, therefore we got the BAD-WEIRD-DRUNK-PSYCHO-INSECURE-Molesters-SINGLE OLD GUYS W/TOYS and no FRIENDS - and the CA America wanna be.
Time went by and they stayed, nowhere else to go. But just like SHIFT said, thankfully the are fading out.
Nevertheless we do have some SR FO's to replace them, LOL.

I rarely disagree with Norm, but NOT on this one. I like this place, before and after the contract. It has done its job for me and my family, I can only hope that stays that way.

Is the whole 4-day-off-in-a-row thing what defines QOL to you? What about 8:00 block day flying 4 leg "regional style" trips at nothing even remotely close to Southwest pay? (or industry standard for that matter). Understand why? Wait until DTW closes. Come back and talk about QOL then to your p-issed off buddies up there. And it's coming. Why care, all good flying turns up there in ACY right?

I agree, some of these parings are out of hand. Later this month im on a LIM-LAX back to back, with 12 hr in btwn (try to sleep), to go to LAX and overnight for 21:45 just under 22hr so we don't get the extra 4.5hr cdt.
It sucks, but still not enough to hate the place.
QOL still is a direct factor of seniority, in ANY airline.
PAY still is a direct factor of longevity, in ANY airline.
And QOL and PAY at NK its what we have, we all can stay and make it a better place with time, or move on like many have done.
Like many, I have friends in other carries, and their grass is greener, the funny thing is that for some we seem to have a greener grass here.
So in the end is how you look at the glass.

A few short months ago guys were screaming ****ed that the 4 day trips weren't productive enough. So, let me get this straight, now they are too productive? I think most would rather a 26 hour four day vs a 20 hour 4 day. But I guess you have to complain about something, right..
