hahaha, I got a call yesterday, on my day off 3 out of 4 for a 2 day JMA. No way....

RECALL more PEOPLE!!!

And a few other pilots were call this wknd on their days off to cove trips with JMA pay. I know 2 of them didnt take the bait.
This is getting ridiculous. People sitting resv at 85-89 hr, JMA all over.

I hope no one answered the phone to cover these trips.

"In the next coming weeks, we can expect the company to put more and more pressure on each and every one of us. They will be looking for the weak links in our union and testing our resolve. It is important that we fly the contract, provide good service, continue to act professionally as pilots, and not fall victim to the taunts and plots of this management.

One thing is for sure, we will settle for nothing less than a fair contract that recognizes and rewards our contributions to this airline. The only true question is how long it will take the company to realize this fact. Please contact a member of your MEC if you have any questions about the process and what you can expect in the days ahead."

Fly safe and fly the contract

Trips were covered buddy. They found 4 captains willing to make some more money to pay off their boats, bikes and other toys.

Somebody probably already mentioned it but did anyone see that Spirit announced a bunch of increased frequencies starting in May and even some new service. Another announcement says they've put in an application for Barranquilla as well.
Do they expect to have the contract issue resolved that quickly?
Anybody have any ideas? I'm still furloughed and admittedly not very caught up with all that's going on.

MIRAMAR, FLORIDA (March 15, 2010) –Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines continues to grow as it this week received the first of four new Airbus A320s scheduled for delivery in 2010.

The first new A320 began regular daily service on Spirit’s Fort Lauderdale – Washington, D.C. route on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Spirit’s all-Airbus fleet, one of the youngest and most fuel efficient in the Americas with an average age of less than four years, now consists of 26 A319s, 2 A321s and 1 A320, with 3 more A320s scheduled for delivery in 2010.

“We are proud to operate one of the youngest, most environmentally-friendly and fuel efficient fleets in the Americas,” says Spirit’s CEO Ben Baldanza. “This allows us to keep our costs low, and we pass these savings along to our customers. Ultra low fares are what our customers have come to expect and what we continue to deliver.”

The new 178-seat A320 features 174 deluxe leather seats and four Big Front Seats.

The additional A320s mark a more than 11 percent increase in seats year-over-year for the upcoming summer high travel season.

The expanded fleet allows Spirit to continue growing by introducing service to new markets and increasing frequencies in existing markets, including:

• Detroit – Myrtle Beach: seasonal non-stops resume March 14
• Chicago – Myrtle Beach: seasonal non-stops resume March 14
• Atlantic City – Myrtle Beach: seasonal flight increase starting March 14
• Atlanta – Myrtle Beach: new service starts May 1
• Boston – Atlantic City: seasonal flight increase starting May 1
• Boston – Fort Lauderdale: increased flights starting May 1
• Myrtle Beach – LaGuardia: seasonal increase to 4 daily flights starting May 1
• Detroit – Los Angeles: resumes May 1
• Detroit – Las Vegas: increase to twice daily flights starting May
• Fort Lauderdale – Las Vegas: increase to twice daily flights starting May 1
• Fort Lauderdale – Orlando: increase to 4 daily flights starting May 1
• Fort Lauderdale – Punta Cana: seasonal non-stops resume May 2
• Detroit – Atlantic City: new service starts May 20
• Increased weekly frequencies for peak summer season between Fort Lauderdale and Armenia, Cancun, Cartagena, Guatemala City, Montego Bay, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Santiago, Dominican Republic.

It'll be interesting to see them pull off this schedule with no recalls.

Here's the latest I'm hearing from somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody....

Apparently, our 200% junior manning is completely off the charts and the company has no problem letting our union know about it. Our guys just keep doing favor after favor. The company plans to use the existing pilot force the next few months to cover the flying. It seems they are having no problem finding enough guys to cover the open flying. That "200% JA crack" is just too addicting for some guys out there.

In fact, I'm being told that one of our captains just retired the other day and decided to accept a 200% junior assignment AFTER HIS RETIREMENT DATE! (still trying to confirm). Well, Mr. Captain Sky God...if you need the cash that badly, why are you retiring?

You tell me...If you were BBB and Franke, wouldn't YOU take this to a strike and test the resolve of this group? Our OWN GUYS ARE HURTING OUR CAUSE!

Geez....

I have a hard time believing they will pull it off. At the moment staffing level is a bit lower than before the last 6 got called for December. Remember Spirit is not exactly brilliant in planning. After 2-3 cancellations poop will fill the underwear, panic will spread, and someone will get fired. But more important, with a little luck, the 200% guys will hit 30/7s and 100s. Unless of course they will start offering trips for 300% 'Cause why not? LOL.
