NK and MEC meeting the first week of APR, ordered by NMB, two days of talks. Another month.
Hrs are increasing, they need to cover the flying regardless of contract. I think recalls MAY and/or JUN.

Sailor I wouldn't be putting a about recalls. The last thing I would want right now is a recall. Let the contract and strike hype get settled and then recall.
I would hate someone to quit their current job to just go on strike with no unemployment available.

Now if you are still unemployed and have no more benefits, then that is a different story.

un-f-ing believable NMB....You know those useless mediators make 150k a year while I drown in debt with no raise in 4 years on a concessionary contract while they ball tickle each other.....Looks like our president did a good job getting pro labor people on the board....I think at this point McCane would of been better for labor than this guy.....

He doesn't guarantee a release. He just said, based on his past experience, that it appears we will be headed towards a release if those talks are unproductive.
As for recalls, I don't think the company will go down that road until this strike/contract situation is settled. If work rules change, there could be a "major" base restructuring that could change staffing levels. It would be foolish of the company to bring back folks, train them, spend money, then furlough later.

BUT! I am very much afraid that they may agree on something that will not result in the reduction of the existing pilot force. I.e. some clause that will prevent further layoffs for a while. In one email they have already mentioned that the MEC has offered some improvement in efficiency. It did not explain how, and what. Of course they can't go into details. What that means in terms of pilots? I have no clue. All I know is simple math. If the company will be able to staff the planes with less pilots, even as little as by 5%, the existing force is plenty enough to fly the planes including the new ones coming this year.
I really hope, us the furloughed guys, will be somehow protected by an increased efficiency scenario. I have no reason to doubt my MEC so far, and I am not. But I will feel betrayed if a pay raise will be achieved at the cost of us staying another year or two on furlough. When this company needed the damn pilots to fly the planes in 2007 and 2008, we came here and flew them. I am sick of being used as toilet paper. Back in the days before corporations were the norm, small and medium business owners felt responsible for their employees. Right now the norm is to hire someone, lie them all day long, let them go tomorrow. Amazing crap.

Agreed with Norman.
The only problem is exactly what you said, the company DOES ONLY look at numbers. And the union looks at the best scenario for the majority. I wouldn't be surprise to see some of our furloughts as COLLATERAL DAMAGE.
But I am a very optimistic guy, and I think there are going to be more recalls. Regardless of contract.
