Question for Spirit Pilots,

1. How many quarters of profitability has Indigo shown running Spirit and how can they make those kind of numbers with less then 30 airplanes?

2. Do you think by going on strike it might affect that run of profitable quarters and make it more difficult for them to do an IPO?

From a friend that works for a V.C. "their is some doubt in Indigo's ability to set up, run and IPO their ULCC model in this current market."

You might have them if you can stick together

I haven't taken advantage of your M.U.F.F. sale so hang in there until I can

Well the business model has been up and running for a few years now, and I believe it has proven itself to be effective. We have seen some incredible profits over the past 18 months, during a time in which the country has been in one of the worst recessions in its history. As for their ability to successfully run an IPO for an airline such as Spirit, they recently IPO'ed Tiger Airways in Singapore. Tiger is similar in many ways to Spirit, and from what I read their IPO was fairly successful.

Hopefully Indigo can put their ego's aside and come to terms with the pilots in the next few weeks.....because I can tell you that we are very unified and READY to walk out of the cockpit for the contract we deserve. Doing so would completely ruin any hopes for an IPO or growth for Spirit. In fact, I believe the company would be done after a few weeks.

Tigers Airways IPO, I'm thinking, is not as "fairly" successful as you think???

And the fuzzy accounting of Wizz Air isn't working for them as well? There was a link on wiki about it? Copy paste below:

Financial Performance
While attempting to hasten SkyEurope's demise in June 2009, Wizz Air claimed it has been "profitable for several years".[7] However, as a private company it is not required to publish its financial accounts. In November 2009, it emerged Wizz Air is significantly loss making and has never made a profit while delaying the pay back of €32 million of debt by five years.[8] Losses since commencing operations total €78 million.[9]

After the collapse of Flyglobespan in December 2009, Wizz Air was rated the European airline most likely to next go bust. This was according to a firm of bookmakers.[10]

Don't get me wrong, I want NK to succeed just as much as anyone there but some of their business practices pertaining to service, marketing, and employee relations seem to be..... let's just say, Honor, Courage, and Commitment are lacking. Hopefully with the new COO things will change for the better

The difference with Spirit is that we're making money. Wizz Air and Tiger are big losers, but I think that works to our advantage. Indigo is already losing a significant amount of money (on paper anyways) with these two and may not want to add Spirit to the list. They don't want to kill the goose that lays golden eggs. Although they may now want to choke every last egg out of it. The ULCC model may not work in other places, but Spirit is a cash cow for them. We now have leverage to say a smaller record profit is better than no profit at all.

With margins as thin as they are, I find it hard to believe that they are making the kind of money they say with 28 airplanes. The only way it makes sense is with some type of delayed debt payment or "other" fuzzy accounting practice. I don't know, maybe I should believe everything out of HQ

Why do you think we keep adding destinations in Colombia?
