Can anyone tell us why the pilots didn't get to vote on this relief? The MEC passed a resolution three years ago guaranteeing us a vote on any issue that affected our pay or work rules. Giving up the work rules seems to fit that definition.

Did not have time vote. The company was sinking fast. We should be proud that we kept it a float. Ackerman did the right thing. Kudos! Hopefully the company realizes how important we are to the operation. It could get a lot uglier if they want to not get us to pay parity!

For those of us that aren't there, what happened?
I recently jumpseated (yesterday) on Spirt, and the CA mentioned management melting down. That's about all that was said.
So what exactly went down? Understaffed? Bad IROPS contingency plans?

I agree, The MEC did the right thing. If we want a vote every time a knat farts we would never get anything done. It was only for a short time. And yes it sux, but it's our jobs on the line!!

Do people honestly think we wouldn't have had a job if the airline had to halt operations for 24 hours (like JB has done a few times) to re-organize? This type of mentality makes me concerned for upcoming negotiations that the group will just roll over because management threatens us. Do I believe that we were have problems? Yes, but that is due to poor planning way above my pay grade, because next time they come to the pilot group to help them out of their problem, I hope a bad precedent has not been set.

Our jobs on the line? Are you kidding me? You need a blanket party.
Its managements job on the line, and we just saved their butt. When it comes time to return the favor, they will ram it right up your.....
We should not have granted any relief. Shut down for a bit. Loose 50 mil. Management heads roll. Then we move on.
OUR jobs on the line? Get a clue!

With 700 million in the bank and a market cap of 5 billion you really think a shut down for a day would cost us our jobs?
Btw Bendo better apologize and not make this sound like a weather event or else we really need to ratchet down on these clowns.
After reading the last few comments, I feel relieved. I was afraid nobody besides me understood. Glad to hear it! No more caving! If they know we will cave, they will create situations for us to cave so management can achieve concessions. Management doesn't care if it cost 20 million to whack us. They will just sit back and lol at us. If they want something from us, FOKKING PAY US!!!
