Friend just called and said an MEC e-mail was sent out... Truly, absolutely RIDICULOUS company proposals!!! 2 dollar per hour increase for F/O's? Almost no raise for captains? 70 hour guarantee for reserves? 125% OT pay? 150% JM pay? No holiday pay? Min 2 days off between trips?
Are you SOB's on drugs? (I know you jokers read this board...)
Looks like we will be headed for strike... can't freaking wait! Hoping the MEC will send out marching orders soon..

You can see how well and similar Wizz Air is to NK; 28 AC run by the same Magicians (Indigo Partners), etc, etc....

Wizz Air - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The interesting read is history and finiacial performance

Maybee Indigo can not afford to lose anymore of their investors money; for they are losing face with their ULCC business model and possible IPO'ness of them if NK goes on strike... Who knows?? Poker anyone?

On drugs, yes, I think our management are overdosing on "DENIAL of reality".

Company wants to play games with our lives. We are long overdue for a contract - let's walk! Analize this - my job is worth industry standard; nothing less. We've spent a lifetime building integrity for ourselves in order to represent this profession and ultimately this company. Now our integrity is being questioned - WE, THE PILOTS, ARE SPIRIT AIRLINES. Together we can make this airline great. Yet I am ready to fight for what my family deserves. Stop playing games. Our unity will not be compromised. We have worked too dá*n hard. United we shall be. Do what is right and make this a great airline. Give us the contract that we deserve.

I'm thinking the "Golden" Mav has a skewed idea of the proverbial "rule"

This is not what we have all been waiting for!
...and I'm sure not the mediator either.

Well said. If anything, the more they play games and offer these outrageous proposals, they more they unify the pilot group. I haven't talked to one Spirit pilot that isn't p!ssed off with this...
Called a person in the union that said a Strike Preparedness update is on its way...

PLAY by the RULES, Absolutely!

We should not let our emotions take over, and play the pieces just like a game of chess. Our ALPA guys are doing a great job, and they know that they have our support.

The CO is expecting us to get emotional about it, we should be smart and cold, ...just like the ICEMAN , for those who like topgun.

Agreed with Sailor... This first offer is just that.... a first offer and an attempt to set a low baseline of negotiations. If we step back and think about some of the terms, they don't really make any sense.

1. 100% pay for Working Day off? Ok.... my answer to that is that A LOT less people pick up OT causing more hiring. Which one do you think is more expensive for the company? Street hires? Or OT pick ups? I know my answer!

2. 2 days off between pairings? OK... what about these super efficient schedules they are screaming about? If I'm flying 3 day trips at 24hrs of block/credit each... I can only do four of these and by my rough math that equals 12 days of work a month... kind of a funny offer from them huh?

3. 150% JM? Don't answer the phone... ever... Simple and done.

If the company thinks they have it bad, I wonder what their pocket books will feel like we start doing safety concious two engine taxis EVERYWHERE... Taxi at safe speeds.... EVERYWHERE and calling fatigue on those lovely red eyes EVERTIME... or best of all just walk away from it all. They are doing a great job at unifying the group with these BS proposals they are handing to us.

Are there going to be some scabs? Yes. Will the company survive with only them? NO.

I've certainly not been a fan of this MEC at all times but will back them 100% through these negotiations. It's the only way to succeed with these attempts on our lifestyle and work conditions from Indigo.

Patience is necessary and I agree. The only problem is that this is not the FIRST offer. Remember Contract 9000? This is pretty much the same. The company has apparently now backed away from some of the sections and proposed other crap (as you can see on one of the attachments). The payscale is horrendous. Doesn't even account for inflation in the past 7 years. So, even though I always advocate patience, there are only 2 more bargaining sessions (a fact I didn't know). If we don't step up the pressure now...I'm not sure how this will end up.

Past practices of p!ssed off pilot groups:
Disclaimer: this is for INFO ONLY...

-Taxing slow.
-Flying slow.
-Flying fast.
-Not accepting direct routing.
-Two engine taxi.
-F/O making a VERY DETAILED pre-flight. ("Capt, I'm not comfortable with that crack on the tire rubber. Please call maintenance.")
-Captain calling maintenance for minor stuff (like that crack on the tire rubber).
-Not calling for fuel when they are late... not pilot's job or fault.
-Calling in fatigued when kinda fatigued....duuhh.
-Calling in sick when feeling kinda sick....duhhh
-Not doing any favors (reserves being asked to please be there in an hour and a half, if possible. Sorry...NOPE.)
-Everybody showing up not wearing their hats (well...or not wearing a tie).

Disclaimer: I'm (or ALPA) is not advocating this.... INFO ONLY! Just historical facts of the past...
