So conservatively, you'd have to be there 5 or 6 years to break even and start pulling ahead (assuming you upgrade in 3.5 years.)

So I'm trying to find where I'll make up the difference.
By going to Delta...

Seriously, you've made the case against coming here, so why do you want to work for Spirit??

Don't know that I do. I'm trying to make the best decision for myself and my family. Good, reasonable advice is all I'm looking for.

I hit right around 34K take home for the first 12 months on property, with the family A-plan insurance and living in base. 3 months RSV, regular line holder thereafter.

The move to Spirit was for QOL, and that has really paid off.

Well, for what little it's worth, you would come here for a belief in the business model and what the future 'might' hold. We're woefully underpaid (at the moment, but that will change); however, there are many positives about being here. The future is currently bright...that may or may not change. Sounds like a family guy may not be interested in banking on the future possibilities...and that's ok. Great risk may equal great reward...or it may also equal total disaster. Only you can know if you're willing to take the leap!

Best of luck in your decision.

If you got on today, you will not upgrade in 3.5 years, perhaps six or more, not figuring on attrition. Currently we have 70 planes and expect 73 by the end of the 3rd quarter. Our orders bring us up to 144 planes in 2021. So, if you are not on the job by the end of the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, my math says no upgrade until 2022.

Apply, interview, get offered a job, and then make a decision.

That's true giving the current orders. If the growth continues...so do upgrades. As it stands now, this machine is rolling and more growth is on the horizon (could be via merger, then all bets are off), which would keep upgrade time down.

Like has been said above...apply, interview, and get the job...then it's decision time.

Great comments.

We need unity, during these months prior to negotiations.
A united and contract educated membership, is imperative in achieving our common goal, which is an industry leading contract.
If we do not like what the reps propose, vote it down, and send it back.
They represent us after all.

APC has the Spirit pay rates, and a calculator, that would be handy in figuring this out in a jiffy.
Best of luck.

I don't see the benefit of leaving the regional I am at.

Is there pay increases on the horizon? How fast are upgrade times?

This is a 20 year decision. Otherwise you would be crazy to leave your regional job.

It's a great place to work and the future is looking bright. If you're willing to make a bet, a pretty safe one, you'll probably be happy you did.

Also I killed it the last two years at Colgan. I don't work very hard at spirit. If I worked at it I would make at least what I made at Colgan, probably more.

Paris Air Show is coming up next month. Word is ~20 more airframes (I believe A321s) before 2021.
