Seniority details notwithstanding, any merger announcement would be a nail in the coffin for a new contract. It wouldn't matter how much had already been accomplished or how close to a TA we were, it all would be scrapped. Now you get to start completely over on a Joint CBA with the other pilot group.
Oh yeah, awesome. Ackerman/Pachkofsky. That's who I want at the helm going into any merger/contract negotiation etc. -NOT. These guys couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag. The MESA Mafia now in charge has really never done anything except recall people (here and at Mesa), and deliver the WORST contract in the industry (at Mesa, of course). At first I thought it was going to be a good thing- I was WRONG- and I admit it. Now they own all of US!
Also- I'm pretty sure that BBB/Bendo were not listed on the agenda for the MEC meeting- I guess it was just another Ackerman late agenda item... Now that's what I call transparency! Maybe they are trying to make friends with them so that when they screw all of us, they can get cushy mgt. jobs and won't have to suffer with the rest of us- kinda like they did at Mesa (albeit on ALPA leave all the time- company paid!)
But hey, who cares? We can just continue to watch flashy videos from the bunker (kinda reminds of the stuff Saddam Hussein sent out from his basement before we did a bit of regime change) use their philosophy and move from carrier to carrier looking for a real job. Right? Makes me wanna puke.
They destabilized our union (with help from 109), now we have an MEC Chair who is also an F/O rep (corruption of the parliamentary process anyone?)...and we are all going to pay DEARLY for it.
Well done everyone! It's gonna be an interesting ride! Polish up your logbooks.

GMAFB. Good riddance to the good old boys club. They asked for it and in my opinion this all happened years later than it should have.

Ya know if some of this pilot group actually cared (had a comprehensive understanding of) what is in our current contract compared to other pilot groups as much as they care about who is the MEC chair, we would be in much better shape. Divided over something as trivial as that position sounds like a good way to be going into a new contract. They can't make you vote for or against anything. The only way to make the right choice is to make an educated one, and *****ing about who or who isn't the MEC chair doesn't get you educated.
Btw, if Mesa or any airline has the worst contract in the industry it's because they are either last in the current pattern bargaining cycle (spirit) or they ratified a shiit contract (Mesa). Even if a industry trailing contract is negotiated for you, you only end up working under it if you ratify it. Mesa pilots have no one to blame for their contract but themselves. Not the MEC chair or even the MEC reps. Sure the reps play a part in what gets to the group but you don't have to vote for it. Mesa has a terrible contract because of the Mesa pilots. If we get a substandard contract here we have no one to blame but ourselves. If we vote down something because it's junk, we can certainly make appropriate changes at that time.

Yes genius, you're right! Maybe we can both work on our logbooks together for our Mesa or GoJet interviews! Maybe Ackerman and Patch can even give us good recommendations! I'll see you in hell---err I mean Mesa, or similar!

I was there. The reps sold this thing hard! I mean really hard. They travelled to every base pitching it over and over with fancy powerpoints and shiney handouts. They were spending OUR money on an intesive campaign to pass it. Its still no excuse, i know that, but its worth mentioning the opposition had no such professional well funded soap box. And then it only passed by 8 votes!
So you can rightly blame the pilot group, true, but the reps build the TA and then have a lot of power to manipulate the vote.

Strictly speaking, yes, this is true, however there is more to the story, at least for consideration.
