I think gunga represents a majority of us around here that don't feel like we are 'in the union'
That being said keep in mind that you can be a Spirit pilot and truly not be 'in the union' . Just inform ALPA and your dues will be reduced down to about 1% and you just cant vote or get the magazine. They still must represent you and the contact applies. Just don't expect too many handshakes in the jetway.

Man this thread has become worthless since the b*tch boards closed down. The fact I need to qualify this is pathetic. I was referring to (and possibly wrong about) gonyon's implied sarcasm insinuating I held a position within our union and was doing more than enough to fulfill communication obligations by talking to people on line.

Oh oops I didn't mean to imply that. I really think it is helpful that you engage with people who don't read any of the information put out by the mec or keep tabs on what's going on in the industry. I try to do it as well in the context of casual conversation of course nobody wants a lecture

Exactly, because this is an excusable position to not read emails or have any clue what industry average rates and retirements are. If people are that upset at the leadership, one potential example to send a message "en masse" message to the leadership was the EFB LOA. Look how many people even bothered to vote.
We KNOW how far we are below our peers. We do not know what the union reps are going to do about it!
The DL EFB vote didnt show apathy. It showed resignation that the MEC will do what the NC Chair and his old pal Dougie tell them to do!
Why bother participating when the MEC, to a man, said pass it and when you know that they could scare 70% into a yea vote on anything!
Here is how it works. MEC/NC TA the best deal they think they can get. Those 26-30% of us that read it, find it lacking and vote to send it back, are out voted by those that take the MEC's "yes" recommendation and/or those that defecate their shorts due to the MEC's straw man.
Thanks for the overview. While this is a likely outcome, it becomes definite through apathy, ignorance and misinformation. This is a far different company than in c2010 and for anyone let alone the 26%ers to roll over and expect a loss does nothing for the betterment of the pilot group
The same team is in charge for C2015, why should we not expect a loss again?
Let's go on- the team just proved that they can scare 70% into anything, and that team has a history of ........losses! Is that plain enough for you?
