Prior to the pandemic the legacies were focused on business travel and higher revenue customers. They kind of looked down their noses at the ULCC's as companies that only served a customer base that they weren't all that interested in. As long as they stayed in their lane, they weren't a threat. After the pandemic changed business travel, the legacies adapted and quickly went after every dollar out there. The ULCC's are now viewed as a legitimate threat and as competitors who are keeping many markets priced below what they would prefer. Legacies are now offering cheap seats on much bigger networks, more service options, more flights, etc. They can, and will bleed longer than what others can, forcing ULCC's to either adapt to a model requiring significantly higher ticket prices to survive or to be driven out of the market.

Let me get this straight. A judge denied the NK/JB merger because it would reduce competition and hurt "the poors" but you think they're going to allow DL or UA to buy NK?
Dream on.
Oh and AA is doing just fine in MIA.
DL has given MIA to LATAM and is basically feeding them from there to points south.
UA will be the first airline to furlough in the next downturn. They have always had arrogant managers who overpromise and underdeliver and hire until the day they furlough. They are going to surpass AA in debt with this "UnitedNext" refleeting they're doing into a recession.
A friend who works at Willis Tower (Sears?) says more than half the offices are empty. It's a ghost town.

That is probably a good plan for your friend. Find a new job that provides them happiness. Perhaps you should consider the same. Find your own happiness without trying to throw barbs at UAL. There are a lot of spirit pilots coming to UAL. Hate to see you poison the reputation of the group as a whole. If you represent the average attitude of the the Spirit pilots I hope we take a hard pass on hiring more of your group.

As far as UAL taking a hard pass on hiring more Spirit pilots, hardly. NK pilots are filling many of your new hire classes, managing to sneak in between those sweet diversity hires that have been causing those recent “skill” issues with your flights.

My brother in law now works from home full time. Loves it. But it's kinda like being on reserve, he basically has to answer his phone anytime they call, irregardlessly.

Make sure you mention you are coming to save us fron DEI hires in your interview! Also the “skill”issues haven’t been DEI hires. But you know they are because you want it to be that way. It’s easy to see why you are where you are. Sure hope our interview team does their job.

I’m sure the HR team would love the challenge…You definitely shouldn’t come to UA. I am not the gate keeper but I know who I would like being on my side of the gate and you are not in that group.
What is really ironic is that I came to read the spirit topics because I had sympathy for what is happening to the pilot group. But once I read the attitudes and comments here blaming legacy carriers for the problems at spirit that sympathy has evaporated quickly. I am sure not all spirit pilots are like you but it will take some convincing.

A non Spirit pilots posted something about United on here and you came in to defend UAL, on the NK forums, which isn’t needed.
I joked about the well know UAL DEI hiring, pointed out your “holier than thou” attitude with the “I can see why you’re still at NK,” and I needed to remind you most of us have CJOs in hand who have applied.
Now you’re wanting convincing that all NK pilots are not like me? Haha. Get over it.
Ok, I need some convincing that all UAL pilots aren’t like you before I accept this class date. See how insane that sounds.
Fly away United man, let us NK guys discuss amongst ourselves as the monsters we are. Nobody seeks your “sympathy”.
