I'm no fan of hiring people because they can check a box but it's important to remember at every airline all newhires and upgrades have to pass the same checkrides and the same IOE. To say someone isn't qualified or was pushed through because they can check a box is unfair.
As a male Captain, I honestly would take a much softer approach if I had a female (white or of color) FO make big mistake than if it were a white male and we had to debrief it. We act like we are held to the same standards but honestly, we are not.

Think you are taking the human element out of it when dealing with interpersonal relations at work.

Because at the end of the day, we all want to encourage and empower to improve and be safer. If drill sergeant gets us further from there and Mr. Rogers gets us closer, well then bring out Fred.

Join pro standards, you’ll learn more than you want to know and definitely more than you believe.

Cool. One doofus who lied on his PRIAs and gets hired at a two bit ACMI that was desperate for pilots doesn't make a precedent much less an epidemic. Try harder.
And I bet you'll hear a lot more about angry boomers harassing younger pilots because of who they are and telling off color jokes and general acts of unprofessionalism than poor airmanship from "DEI hires". At least that's what my ProStans buddies tell me.

That's not DEI, that's nepotism.
Different issue. Not desireable any more so or less so than DEI. Not too many folks around here advocating for nepotism.
IIRC AA actually had a policy at one point that basically stated you couldn't get hired there if a relative already worked for them. Not sure if that was just within flight ops or company wide.
