Looks like we just hired Daniel Camjo at f9 from you guys. They say he is joining the f9 legal team on the 12th.
"he will be responsible for legal oversight of all major contractual agreements across the organization, as well as providing legal guidance for the company"
wonder if that's just for our contract talks or a merger setup?

Guy doesn’t even work at Spirit.

Comparison matters, but CASM is a suspect metric. United's CASM for a 777 polaris seat is quite high. Their CASM for a 737 first class seat is high. The relevant comparison would be United to Spirit regular legroom NB coach.

I get what you're saying, as if each product was stripped out into its own category. In that case the economy CASM isn't really what it appears to be (its much less) because the higher total cost of running a 777 or 787 or boarding meals for First and Premium Plus etc are all distributed among economy seats as well.

Yeah, it doesn’t work like that. CASM is averaged no matter what the class type.

Using CASM alone as an apples to apples comparison only works in special cases, such as single class LCC.

I think it’s too late for Spirit to compete with the Legacy’s. They’re going to have to be even better than a legacy as far as product goes if they go that route. They’re already trying the bundle prices but people still know it’s Spirit and maybe they’re still thinking about the last time they were delayed or canceled on them. But I talk to young people in my family and they’re always looking at Frontier or Spirit first before the legacy’s to try to get a cheap flight. They just need to figure out again how to make a profit selling cheap seats.

Most of the people I talk to in the real world like Spirit, especially younger people. They actually say the service is decent enough with no significant complaints. They also say that we're still usually significantly cheaper than the big 3. Last summer when a couple friends wanted to go to Vegas, they flew Spirit. Even with bag fees they said it was like one-third of what United was demanding (the only other airline offering nonstop on that route).
