Incredible that we will lose close to $500m Q2/Q3 and managements big plan is blocking a middle seat (which they laughably said today will cause a decrease in RASM) and giving Wi-Fi free for up to up to 8 people on the plane.

Yes. And remember, Q3 isnt even the slow quarter.

When times are good you need to pay bonus because things are good! When times are bad you need to pay bonuses to retain the talent because they might leave! Ignore the fact they brought you to the bad times!

Why am I the only one that sees this as genius?
3 seats in a row. Charge $50 per seat (which is capped because the seat configuration is uncomfortable and undesirable). That’s $150 per row.
2 seats in a row. Charge $90 per seat ( far more desirable especially on transcons). Now seeing $180 per row, better experience for customers, less overall a/c weight, can climb higher earlier and burn less fuel.
Sure, less potential for ancillary stuff. But we all see the decline in that anyways.
The only draw back to this is going to possibly be harder to non rev.
I haven’t heard much on the details as to how it would all work. But assuming, we the pilots know more than the guys running the show, is kinda lame. Sort of like a non pilot senior management type telling you that you’re flying the airplane wrong. One of the great things about NK. They let you do your job.

$30 more net per row, 3 rows blocked per flight, means $90 max per flight. The company is losing over $3m a day in Q3. If you are excited about $90 more per flight, that’s great, but losing over $3m a day will need more than this.

In the earnings call they said to give ‘em time before these new policies have an effect on earnings. With all the debt due and losing almost 200mil a quarter, how much time do they really have to convince travelers spirit isn’t ULCC anymore? If you’re one of these people that need a better product instead of just a cheap seat, you’re still going with the legacy’s
