not exactly true. A lot of them are 1500 hour CFI’s, i’ve flown with a few guys and gals that can’t get jobs at any other airlines (even regionals) because they are low time and lots of regionals arnt even hiring. Maybe they will bounce later on.

Dont agree with this. The MEC has worked deals with other airlines for pref interviews for the furloughed pilots. Specifically mentioned are 2 regional airlines, one giving longevity credit and 1 offering street CA positions with a $200k sign on bonus. In addition, a few more airlines are listed with pref interviewing for our pilots. This is much better than what many of us saw in 2008.

I mentioned to one soon to be furloughed FO that read there are street CA positions available at some regionals and his response was “yeah, but I don’t like those bases.”🙄

I think many are looking for a lateral move to an Airbus/737 and that’s mainly fantasy land unless you want to work overseas or some funky Miami based operator. In the end, they are low time and low experience, welcome to the airlines

I give them slightly more credence than anonymous posts on pilot web boards. They seem to do the research, and might dig up and point out some facts that the likes of us weren't aware of. But as you say, that doesn't mean they have any special analytic or prediction skills. Warren Buffet they are not.

sad to see young aviators stain their resumes by working for global X. I know a job is a job, but man they are going to regret that so badly. Hopefully they make it out with out a pink slip or a violation. I’d take silver airways over that 36st poop stain.

Yep, it’s a painful reality check. Historically speaking many of them probably wouldn’t have ever been here in the first place. I’m not saying their careers have to be crappy because so many of ours were but expecting to have 1500hrs and have taken your first discovery flight 2 years ago, and be making $150k in an airbus is just plain lucky. Now they can make $100k in an RJ as a fall back. Not exactly dire straights so many of us lived after 9/11 or 2008. If they don’t want to fly at night, or instruct, or fly props, or even an rj for $100k bc of the bases or whatever, well, that’s on them.

This is gold.

It’s not such a blow for those who are young and have no college degree. They can have some flying adventures before Spirit recalls them. As long as the big 3 are hiring, they should get a call back from spirit.

I assume their frustration comes from seeing their friends who got their PPLs in 2020, spend 2 months at NK and then bounced to a legacy and are now sitting on a Widebody at 3rd year pay or NB CA making $340/hr. The problem is they don’t know how lucky their friends are or just how miserable the lost decade was. It’s not their fault I guess they just don’t know what they don’t know
