It could have very easily gone the other way though and he would have been right. Mergers that come down to the decision of one man are a complete toss up.
Had it been approved, and it had a decent chance, you would have most likely been better off staying and keeping seniority.

So I guess anyone on medical leave/LTD is just stuck on a sinking ship. I can’t really think of any way out of this. We just get to hang on for the ride because we’re disabled and the FAA won’t process files in a reasonable amount of time. Life can be a real **** sandwich.
you’re locked into the rates even IF Spirit were to close its doors tomorrow, until 65 (maybe 67)
Maybe concentrate on trying to not come back as hard, ya know?

What's next? Are you gonna be mad if you eventually get hired at UAL and they don't make you a 777 skipper straight out of indoc?

Yep, you nailed it…also not short sighted at all. Not getting paid to not work when the company goes under, and I can’t apply or interview anywhere else because I’m stuck isn’t a factor at all. Exactly the same as not making 777 skipper at UAL straight out of indoc 👍
Far worse things have happened to pilots who currently fly for NK
I understand the need to find sympathy, but this ain't the place.

Does the government have any ability/interest to step in and grease the rails for debt renegotiation to stave off a bankruptcy filing? Going into an election and having Spirit file for bankruptcy is not a good look for the administration that blocked the merger. A company headquartered in and a large percentage of employees in a swing state for the election.
