JetBlue merger

Opinions are like @$$holes. Everyone has one. But I think they can make a good case that both airlines will be in trouble if this falls through. That won’t lead to more competition, it’ll lead to less.

100-115 of credit a month on reserve is hardly the norm. Possibly with an x/y on your days off dropping you down to 10-11 days off a month plus a bunch of MUP. Let’s not advertise things like that as the norm. Normal would be 12-13 days off a month with 72 hours credit on reserve.
..I'm senior to that and still on reseve. That's very much not the norm. Very hard to break guarantee here unless your doing some extra action.

I'm all for supporting the commuters but not at the expense of my ability to hold 1-2 day trips
Being home nearly every night has made this a completely different job and to be honest I just don't miss most of our layovers. Like at all.
After I set the parking brake I pack up my stuff and head home in my own car. I don't have to share a hotel shuttle with pax asking me loads of stupid questions ("my neighbor's cousin's barber is thinking about going to flight school") or listen to FAs b*tch and complain because they had to do their job that day.
I just don't care about any of that and would rather avoid it entirely. My state of mind has been infinitely better since we made the change last year.

So, to be fair, it’s largely base dependent. It’s just that my base, the reserve CAs break 100+ a month whether they want to or not. Like anything else in 121, YMMV.

The DOJs argument is complete bunk! “We ****ed up in the past and let a few airlines get too big and now dominate the market. So, in response to said **** up, we’ll let everyone else remain screwed and not be able to effectively crack into a fortified legacy market…”. Great move dip****s!
The one saving grace is we have a Reagan appointed judge who might actually possibly maybe believe in free markets and allow the merger to happen with minimal divestments….

Our current trip mix to total block hours is pretty equal and I love it just like you. The pie chart on NavBlue doesn’t tell the story as it relates to total block hours.
While I like turns I don’t want to do them everyday of every month. But if I have to go back to 4 days I may as well just go to United and be a widebody FO.

Out of principle I still hope JetBlue does not get to acquire Spirit. They panicked when F9/NK merger was announced and were told time and time again, thanks but no thanks. Would be awesome to see the judge tell them to go pound sand, having to pay NK 100M and then we merger and become the largest ULCC in the country. That being said, who know what will happen.
