If it weren’t for a family vacation I had booked it would’ve been less than 4 weeks from applying to a class date they offered.
So— don’t wait for a MTC, but if you’re not getting any email/phone action def attend one.
Just an FYI the three week difference in class dates could affect your schedule for the rest of your career. Might mean the difference between holding weekends off, higher credit trips, turns vs 4 days, commuting vs holding the base you want, summer vacation vs October vacation, getting stuck in the right seat or upgrading, even getting furloughed or not.

Very much aware. I’ve always been a QOL guy so family time/holidays before being gone for 60ish days (minus a week of study at home) took precedence. Some classmates interviewed months before me (one nearly 4 months prior) ….everyone has their reasons.

Yeah, and cr@pping out on a family vacation might mean the difference between a happy healthy family, and kids overdosing on drugs, spouse finding someone who considers him/her a priority, separation, divorce, and fighting about custody of the kids and dog.

None of which three weeks difference in seniority would help much with.

👆 Now this here is the advice that you actually need to pay attention to. “Get the first class available!” they say… Do you honestly think a few weeks matter? He will probably move on to a legacy anyway so take some time before training to be prepared and kiss your wife/girlfriend (and kids) a few more times before rushing to training.

One class date can make the difference between a long furlough and having a job. One vacation now to delay a class could mean years of missing Christmas off

Everyone has to make their own choice. Sounds like the person knew those risks and made their decision regarding that. However given the original proposal. Yes mtc is in most cases the fastest way to a cjo. Choose your class date after that. In most cases though time is a luxury and getting the interview, getting the offer and getting the class date asap is what most people want. Until you’re in class (in rare cases even being in class isn’t a guarantee) you can’t count on anything.

Spirit is also pretty bad at letting things fall through the cracks and communication isn’t great. So it’s very possible to not hear anything back and going to a mtc where they review everything, interview you on the spot and decide whether to give you an offer is probably the best case.

Or it could mean rushing to getting into first available class with limited experience to go on and having no time to prepare possibly leading to failing out of training.

Just pick what suits your situation best.

This. The unsolicited advice about how much of a mistake giving up 3 weeks of seniority is low key patronizing. At this stage, everyone knows how seniority works at the airline level. Everyone's got their things going on in their own lives, and the ones giving up 3 weeks of seniority for their own personal reasons aren't stressing about uncontrollable factors in the future where 3 weeks may or may not make a difference.

But at the same time telling others that just applying and waiting for an in person interview because that person specially was ok with waiting and or delaying isn’t right either. Get the offer asap and then choose what class date you want or what works best for you as an individual. Some might be better waiting others might want to start asap. Fastest way to a cjo and class date would most likely be mtc unless they skipped a month
