This (sort of). The company establishes a minimum level of reserves as well as the potential reserves available in a given month. Any day where the number of available reserves is below the minimum level, the day is negative (red). There is no limit on the min level that the company establishes. The reserve system sucks in terms of the experience, but it also has a significant effect on lineholders at all seniority levels due to the inability to drop. We need something like you have that places limits on how “red” our coverage can be at the opening of trading.
It seems you have no language or mechanism to force the company to properly staff res freeing up the grid. You’ll need that if you’re going to stay tied to it.

What is it in the Spirit CBA that prevents the company from setting reserve levels that make it impossible to drop?
At United we are allowed to drop to zero, but dropping anything at all is very difficult because in our version of the grid, the company establishes coverage levels that make it consistently red for most if not all of the month.
Our current CBA places no limits on the reserve minimum levels each day.

Yeah, at Endeavor, it was that way. You could drop to your heart's content, as long as the reserve grid was green. Guess how many required reserves there were everyday? It was magically 10 over how many they had scheduled.

Same at SkyWest. I was there just over two years. Never successfully dropped a single trip.

Well I’m not at nk I’m at f9 but our system works just as well as nk for different reasons. Our res side of the grid is not tied to res coverage. It’s a pre determined number based on domicile size. The company could have zero res and I can drop outside of 48 hrs prior to show. Inside 48 it’s then tied to res levels. Thier res levels are not my problem outside 48hrs.

The predetermined number based on domicile size vs opentime. Instead of res vs opentime. It’s much better and I’ve worked under multiple res vs opentime contracts. Negotiations are centered around the math behind the predetermined number. And one or two other provisions that go with it. I can tell you management doesn’t like it but it was carried over from our last agreement and we were able to hold onto it.
Nk seems to have solved grid issues with thier language for the most part so probably just go with that going forward. It’s current book so the only cost would be to bring jb pilots under it.

Absolutely bonkers! At RPA, I consistently dropped all my reserve days and picked up trips from OT/TB and created myself a line. Got the days I wanted off with 16ish days off at 80 or so credits. Not bad at all. Hearing you out really puts certain things into perspective.
