Idk why every single time pay rates are brought up someone has to interject with work rules or benefits or qol this or qol that.

(Not directed at you) but if someone is talking about a total package you can lump everything in including rules and qol. But if pay rates are being discussed leave it at rates alone.

Neither group got short term contract extensions that were worth a damn. Good luck getting a good JCBA. Two easiest pilot groups in this industry…a match made in heaven for management.

There’s really no need to bash any one pilot group. Not everyone can be leaders (there is literally only one and every other airline lags) and there is no perfect contract. There’s always going to be no voters and there’s going to be provisions in someone else’s contract you want.

If the majority are happy with what they got let them be happy. If you’re one of those not happy maybe you should rethink who you work for and go work for the airline you’ll be happiest with.

I think the way the roadshows were structured just made a lot of people feel like they were getting played. Spending 30 minutes on why Spirit isn't profitable sounded like he came directly from Bento. The we'll get 'em next time strategy is flawed. We had leverage through OE scheduling and first year pay, and gave it up. There is no leverage going into the TPA, and possibly some leverage going into a JCBA. Make no mistake about it, our work rules are on the chopping block, so I agree with your last sentence.

Everyone going thru no medical insurance for 3 months and McDonald's pay was worth it huh? All that talk about first year pay leverage and gave it up for this?

Reading some of the JB posts in their forum and they’re willing to chop out QOL items for pay. I’m not saying we should lag behind in pay post merger, but I would hate to lose all the QOL items I came to NK for. We should be focusing our energy there.

They aren’t chopping out QOL items, they just think this “short term” contract extension was only achievable if it was narrow in scope (ie only pay rates) and that they’d get all their QOL items “next time” in the JCBA. But if you think your JCBA will be great, I got a bridge to sell you. Two of the lowest self-worth pilot groups with some of the worst contracts who both settled for peanuts when their respective companies needed a deal more than the pilots did…and somehow they will jointly get some awesome contract? Yeah right.
