Just to provide some insight… I’m a non-ATP cert guy with around 1600hrs total time. Got a CJO and my class date is coming up shortly. Did part 61 flight training and was not apart of any partnership Spirit has.

In class now as well, I'd say about 6 guys don't have ATP. All under 2000 hours. At least one with 50.2 multi.

That’s awesome. I’m in the same boat. Did you come in with the written done? Are they giving you any special training?

If you come in with under 200 multi and no 121 experience they'll give you 50hrs OE instead of 25.

Just flew with a new person who had very little experience and they changed the altitude from what we were given on decent to 5k below what we were cleared for and they said nothing. When I fixed the situation they said they didn’t think ATC would have made a bid deal about it. If you’re new and have very little experience, be humble and cautious. It’s the best way to learn without causing massive problems.

Yeah. Anybody can misunderstand a clearance - that’s part of being human - but either willfully descending a mile below where you are supposed to be or thinking that accidentally doing so is no big deal… that’s a little scary right there. Hopefully they got that explained to them - in words of one syllable if that’s what it took. Nor would some feedback to professional standards be amiss.

ATP written done. As far as I know, no special treatment for me. I know I’m coming in with less experience and I’m going to have to work double time to take advantage of this opportunity.

Two people in my CTP class were only CFIs going to Spirit, but they were teaching rotor transition at a flight school. Spirit came to hire the RTP guys, and by chance, also decided to interview some of the CFIs, give them CJOs, and pay for their CTP/written. They said they were the last two to get in that way though. I'm in regional training right now but my app is out (written complete only), hoping to catch recruiters at a career fair or mtc to get their attention.

Most of the new FOs I've flown with are decent, some are sharp, and a few make me feel like I'm back in a 172 teaching Chinese students how to copy the ATIS. However I wouldn't let the majority of them land in any kind of weather, even those who aren't technically low time SIC status.

Anyone with less than 1000 hours turbine is low time in my book.
