They could have already been offering sign on bonuses. Why haven’t they already been doing that then?
they can’t afford to wait, we netted 38 new hires in November when they WANTED 120!! If you don’t think they have another offer in their back pocket you’re crazy. We’re not discount pilots. Don’t take a concessionary contract in this environment.

Maybe I'm just widely optimistic but I've operated and dhed on flights over the last 48 hours with 7 different crew members of both seats and all ranges in seniority, everyone single one was a no vote. Obviously this is a very small pool sample but it at least seems unpopular outside of the forums as well.

Yes it is true that they have our survey results. When was that survey sent out? This TA is pretty much inline with what I was hoping for 3-4 months ago. But it’s not 3/4 months ago anymore. Alaska has a deal. Delta has a pending deal. UAL blew theirs up. The landscape has changed so much since that survey was sent out. How relevant is it now? Bottom line for me. In the summer/early fall I would have been a yes vote. I’m solidly in the “NO” camp now.

Exactly. They only have to limp out another 1.5 years, the same as us with them.
It’s why voting this down and assume they will not just roll us into a full section 6, and “limp it out 1.5 years” is a huge risk.
If there was not a highly probably merger on the horizon, I get voting no. They only need to run out the clock, they do t even need to make money. They have enough cash in hand to bleed until the merger. Don’t assume for a second that they won’t just bleed over the finish line, roll us into full section 6, and send a lackey to the table each month, with no plan on any contract.
Or, they say screw it, and instead of paying the costs associated with this TA, they offer nice signing bonuses to newhires outside of the CBA. “Hey Pilots, Spirit is now offering nice signing bonuses, sign up for a 2 year contract and we will pay off your flight school loans”.

Vote how you want, I am aware of the risks and the what if’s and I’m not ready to take my chips off the table with the first offer on early openers under the fear that maybe we will get nothing.

There’s always a risk in negotiations, and your fear is what, they walk away from the table or drag it out and let the place burn? It’s still a publicly traded company and shareholders haven’t gotten the full amount yet. You think institutional investors are going to allow management to take a knee and run out the clock while the stock price slides and just keep their fingers crossed they make it all back on merger approval? 18-24 months is a lifetime in the financial world and a lot can happen between now and then.

A lot of that will depend on how you approach the question. Many people try to be “people pleasers” in person and like to avoid conflict. Subtle changes in wording that you or I might not even realize can make people tell you they’re a “no” even if they’re a yes, or vice versa. The real sample will be the vote - there won’t be any way to know until then.

I am really hopeful that the pilot group does vote no. I have not been here through multiple negotiations like others, but something that is clear by talking with those that have is that while the NC tries very hard, they are ineffective at getting us where we need to be. Because the MEC allows this to occur, the MEC and the NC need to be removed. This TA that was sent to us should have never made it to us. ALPA is generally a weak union and airlines are very good at manipulating the union, but it is time to stand up. Yes, it could bite us if there is a recession, another COVID, or if the airline management runs this operation into the ground. I don’t want to leave the Spirit. I like it here, but it’s embarrassing that this TA is what we think we are worth. Vote No please…more to come on MEC and NC removal.
