Even if the JB merger fails and we go back into negations in a year what are the odds we haven't hit a massive recession? Now we've lost any leverage we had and stuck with this crap sandwich. What incentive is there for a yes vote?

Much appreciated.

Solid TA when you take everything into consideration and the scenario that faces us.
The company will not come back to the table as fast as some think, just realistically. Especially the blowhards talking about "cleaning house". How long do you think it takes to go through all that, then do more surveys (so the new negotiating committee isn't flying blind) and then schedule sessions, back and forth, more road shows, voting, etc.
Meanwhile you are losing out on thousands per month. Opportunity cost. Yea, you could probably squeeze out a few dollars more. Is it worth the time and the lost money?
Don't forget, the government takes half of any extra money you get by turning this down (income tax). An extra $10 per hour is more like an extra $5 per hour.
I thank the negotiating committee for their work and I trust them a hell of a lot more than the clowns on this message board beating their chests to make up for some very fragile egos.

That being said. The landscape has changed in the last week with Delta’s new TA, which seemed to have been the “oh ****” moment for Spirit. And now we have a TA in record time, the “significant” pay gap vanished overnight. I salute the NC, but now it’s our turn to update our ask with a no vote.

I get your point, it has to deal with the broad strokes of the merger and protections. But it is a negotiation, and all items are negotiated. The NC/MEC has referred to the TPA as the "next step" building on this deal and we dont have any forced arbitration language like Alaska did, working against the Alaska pilots.
Robin will need the TPA and JCBA to be complete before he can drive the new car, each step will need to have money tied to it in order to get it done.

What if we vote no, the company leaves the table, and we hit a recession and are stuck with our current contract? Lots of what ifs can be played out if you try hard enough. I think a no vote is a huge gamble in a lot of ways.
